Wednesday night make-up-for-Tuesday city skate

Rained pretty bad yesterday so we went out a day later.  WOW, what a great late Spring day!!  Yeah, 80ºF is a bit hot but with the breeze it is quite nice and very enjoyable to skate the streets of Philly.  Here’s my proof:

Sunday city skate in Philly with the Landskaters crew

Awesome time today, skating the warmed-up streets of Philadelphia with the Landskaters crew.  We went pretty deep North and ventured just a block or two off our regular “beaten” path.  Turned out very nice and an enjoyable way to spend 16 miles of my time. Oh, yeah, and I got a video to prove it 🙂

How to get beer and wash your bike at the same time

Ever wonder that?  Well, it’s too wet today for anything rollerblade… so I ran… then I decided that’s not enough and girlfriend and I went to get a growler at the Crime & Punishment brewery in Philly (highly recommend!). Rained on the way back so our bikes are now squeaky clean :).  Here out travel from home to Brewery Town by ways of the river run and back through Center City of Philadelphia.

Plazapalooza at The Triangle

This annual event takes place at my favorite corner of the city: 23rd and South Street.  For a few years now the street corner is blocked off and we’re allowed to chill by the fountain, enjoying our icecream/beer combinations.

The Plazapalooza is the same thing, really, with more of the street blocked off and a few food trucks, in addition to everything else that’s always there, anyway. In other…

Rittenhouse Fine Craft Fair

Rittenhouse park hosts many artistic events throughout the year and this one was especially dedicated to the fine crafts (and apparently takes place twice a year). Personally, I prefer paintings a little more but there were some interesting crafty pieces here which we quite enjoyed. If you’ve missed it, take a look and see if you want to join in next time.

Just when I thought the storm is all-gloom…

I was fully mentally prepared for slightly down mood that the storms bring [to a person like myself who loves to spend time outside…]. But dang! A double rainbow? Can’t really when was the last time I’ve seen one of these… very cool, indeed!

I just grabbed the camera with the first available lens and settings 🙂 Came out okayish 🙂

Fitler Square flea market

I can never remember how often (or when, for that matter) this event takes place but according to the Fitler Square’s official website this looks like a once-a-year thing. Well, we were on a “cat hunt” and, as you can probably see, we were mildly successful without overspending (rushing ahead, I’ll tell you that everything she’s holding is a whopping $2!).

I love walking around in Philly [search for the “philly” tag] and today was no exception.  We set out to check out three events going on in the city and we ended up taking so many photos/videos at these places that I’ve split my report to you into four: general walking around and then the specific event-based posts that are coming very soon.

Let’s take a look at what was going on in the city…

Night walk in Philly’s Center City and Old City

Friday night. The temperature is in the 70s F, wind is below 10 mph, chores are done… why not take a stroll in the city?! This walk covered everything from my house (around 24th and South, or almost University City) down to the Delaware River with the view of Camden. Evening walk in Philadelphia in early May

We had a date with some live action at the theater. This comes with a walk there and since this walk traverses the city I brought the cam with. Let’s see what I can capture from South Philly, walking to the heart of the Center City (which for me is defined by both the City Hall and the Wilma Theater.

Flowers are out, still, and Spring is in full swing here! Love it!!

This Cobbs Creek location turned out to be quite nice.  I was a bit surprised that I’ve lived in Philly for 15 years or-so and have never heard of it (even though we’ve skated nearby here all the time…).

Failed Cinco de Mayo city walk

Tried… but failed to find a good party on Cinco de Mayo today… sad face

But!! got a nice walk around the city from it, with lots of Spring flower photos 🙂

Big group today, no doubt it’s the weather! Skated all over the city, keeping it mostly flat and chill. Excellent 20-miler (for me; and ~15-16 for everyone else). We saw chickens, we saw a coffin, we saw so many different cool things I can’t even remember now so I’ll re-watch my own video now 🙂
