Molly Ringwald's Lost Weekend
Barrel Head Brewhouse, SF
$10
--
Barrel Head Brewhouse's menu hosts a selection of cocktails and 'brewtails,' one of which was was the 'Molly Ringwald's Lost Weekend.' Not going to lie, I chose this based almost solely on name, and because there's ginger beer in it. It also has Campari, lemon...and New Amsterdam Gin. There's the kicker, as I'm not a fan of gin. The drink was pretty bitter overall, which was to be expected with the lemon and the Campari, which normally isn't a combo I mind. It was good, but not up to my normal liking, and it seemed like the ginger beer was a barely-detectable splash in the drink. Probably wouldn't order it again, but fans of gin and bitter things may like it.
If you’re looking for a cheap, but strong take on the classic rum and coke, look no further than The Boardroom, in San Francisco. For ten bucks, we were able to get this, along with an Anchor Steam, as well as enjoy their Tuesday trivia night. Future adventures are sure to follow, with bacon-wrapped tater-tots.
SF's Pride parade and festival rounded out it's weekend-spree of delightful debauchery and love today, flooding Market Street for a good deal of it's length. As a first-timer to a Pride event, it was equal parts amazing, exciting, and intoxicating (both literally and metaphorically). If you weren't one of the smart drinkers who brought in your own booze, the festival provided hot and sweaty attendees with beer and mixed drinks. I had the Smirnoff Blueberry Lemonade. Awesome ratio of booze-to-juice, set enough to refresh you and start you buzzing. I paid $7 for a 12 oz., which I wouldn't have done at any other occasion. But that, along with the fact that it was for a good cause (my $5 donation got me $1 off all beverages in the festival) made it worth the price, more or less.
For anyone who saw the initial blog post and then wondered if I fell off the face of the earth: I'm still alive! I have a new ID and the urge to drink and tell you all about it, but not the time. Until then, enjoy the view from the 22nd Floor of Parc 55, as seen from the haze of a mini bottle of Absolut Mandrin.

I enjoy discovering new bars, and trying out their speciality cocktails. More so, I enjoy talking about them, so why not combine the two into a blog? And here it is. I'll be bringing you cocktails from SF and beyond.
Looking forward to making this go somewhere!
