I finally faced the Eclipse and like
It truly was one of the most horrid things I ever read in any manga really.
But one thing in particular I found interesting: When Griffith is being told
"When a human faces torment that threatens to rip him apart, he needs something that freezes his heart" [again, I translate from the german version]
And, as we all know, as Femto, Griffith heart is, indeed, frozen, making him unable to really feel any emotion at all anymore. But what this tells me is that Griffith, too, was affected by the eclipse. Affected by the torment, the horror, the sheer volume of people dying, and all because of him.
People like to argue that Griffith didn't care what happened to his comrades during the eclipse, that he selfishly sacrificed them, but I think he did not know just what he would unleash by sacrificing them. Of course, Griffith is not a stupid man. He knew that they would die so he could be reborn. But I doubt he knew how they would die. And what they would be forced to go through.
That, most likely, made him feel horrified himself. Maybe even guilty. Maybe he even realised that he had been purposefully manipulated by Void showing him memories of his past life to encourage him to sacrifice his comrades to become Femto.
And I do think the realisation of what he had done traumatised him to the point where his heart just became frozen. A man that feels nothing, or rather, a demon that feels nothing isn't forced to deal with the consequences of his actions. Isn't forced to deal with the guilt, or the flashbacks of the Eclipse. He can just do whatever he wants to do.
Because we know, from flashbacks during the Eclipse, that Griffith did indeed feel a great amount of guilt over all the people, all the corpses he left behind to achieve his dream, a dream that had vanished into thin air not because of him, but because of other people. That would've made the death of all those who had already died absolutely senseless.
As a demon, not only does he not have to care about the lives lost anymore, but he also finally has a chance of achieving his dream again.
All of this to say that in my opinion, Griffith did care about what happened during the eclipse, and did feel a great amount of guilt, and was just as traumatised as everyone else, his heart just froze and made him unable to feel anything again, ever, to not be forced to truly face the horror he had unleashed.
