It's funny how I keep seeing all these posts mentioning how high-maintenance the Surperior line is when my first partner was a Snivy. Since I grew up in unova as a small serpent loving child, Snivy was the obvious choice. Honestly, I never realized how easy it is to take care of some of the other grass starters until I came to Paldea and got Smoke, my Florigato. Surprisingly enough, 10 y/o me took very good care of that Snivy and grew her all the way to a Surperior (her name is Royale, by the way!), although I don't battle with her all that much anymore, Royale still stays with me through all my travels, I even got special accommodations for her at Uva Accademy! Anyways, I'd love to hear some of your tips and tricks for the Surperior line! Especially things that Uva could to to make my gal feel right at home. -Ember Whitemoon
While I admittedly don't have as much material as I would prefer on care for the Serperior line as I would like, I still know plenty for a few tips and tricks.
1: As stated before, they're like snobbish royalty and will hate you and everything you do if they are not treated as such during every waking moment. Do not let this discourage you, however, as all they require is some discipline in order to respect you more. This process can take up to several decades to complete, and they will most likely evolve both times far before their respect it earned.
2: In spite of being Grass- Types, the Serperior line are still cold-blooded reptiles and require vast amounts of heat to stay active, so a heat lamp is important to own when one is in your care. They will also leave their shed skin everywhere, so be prepared to clean that up every so often.
3: The Serperior line are INCREDIBLY picky eaters and may often starve themselves all together if they don't get exactly what they want every time they're fed. They are omnivores and can eat just about anything, but just because they can doesn't mean they will. I don't have much advice on what to do to alleviate this problem, myself, so feel free to experiment, just so long as you don't kill the poor thing.
And 4: In their efforts to retain heat at all times, the Serperior line enjoy taking long baths in scalding hot water, so long as they have efficient space for it. Prepare for your water heating bill to skyrocket and all your own baths and showers to be borderline freezing.
All things considered, however, it seems Royale is incredibly well-behaved and she may very well be an outlier/exception to how I've portrayed the species through my admittedly biased point of view.
While what I have said may apply to many every individual of any Pokémon species is unique and no two Pokémon are ever truly the same!
