ZOMBIES Character Analysis
Hey, everyone! I haven't been on Tumblr in a while, but I wanted to talk about ZOMBIES. Specifically 3 characters!
Zed Necrodopolis, Eliza Zambi, and Addison Wells.
These 3 are characters who learn, seemingly from a young age, that people are not equal.
Addison is born with undyeable white hair, and for as long as she can remember, she has to hide it with a wig.
Zed and Eliza are zombies. They've never done anything wrong, but they're automatically villainized.
The key difference between them is how they go about dealing with this discrimination.
Addison goes along to get along. Until she meets Zed, she wears her wig, and tries to fit in.
Zed doesn't put much thought into what people think of him as a person. He just wants to be on the football team. Until he meets Addison, and begins to want to be seen as equal, just so he can be seen with her. Even going so far as messing with his Z-Band to look human.
And Eliza protests. She's an activist. She wants nothing more than for all of the zombies to be given rights. So, she fights. Even though she knows her voice will probably be ignored.
By the end of the first movie, Zed and Addison have both changed.
They both want to be treated equally, but they go about it differently.
Eliza continues to protest. Addison starts searching for where she belongs, and Zed starts trying to fit in.
Addison embraces her differences. Her only thing is trying to find people who are similar to her. To find her own group.
Zed starts trying to downplay his differences. Making his posters look human, and though he continues to advocate for zombies, he doesn't exactly embrace that he IS a zombie.
Addison doesn't find what she's searching for in the werewolves, but she's still accepted into their pack. She's still looking for her people, but she's found her people, if that makes sense.
The three of them complete their journeys of self discovery in the third movie.
Addison finds she's part alien. Zed realizes that he IS different, and THAT'S what makes him exceptional. Not how he fits in. How he stands out.
And Eliza? She no longer has to protest. Monsters are being treated as equals. Her, Willa, and Zed get accepted into college, despite being monsters. She never had to find herself, she just had to get everyone else to accept who she is.
Zed and Addison did have to find themselves, but in different ways.
Zed had to learn to embrace his differences, while Addison had to find people like her to truly feel like she had a place somewhere. And they both did just that. It just took a while for them to see what Eliza (and the werewolves) had long since realized. They shouldn't have to be the same to be treated the same.
