Anonymous said: Hi so I have this problem where i tend to always draw hands and arms where they either turn out smaller or larger do u have any tips on it? Like its never proportional to the body?
So hereās a little tutorial. Itās always good to browse the internet, there are a lot of useful tutorials on proportions. If you see an arm or hand is too small or too big thatās good because you can see it and itās easier to fix the problem. If you draw digitally you can always use a line to measure if everythingās proportional, drag and rotate it the way you need (just use another layer) it helps sometimes :)

Quick advice on drawing hands!
HANDS!!! sorry for my bad hand writing
The point Iām trying to drive home, is that draw things the way that best suits you.Ā How-to-books had me all mixed up in my teen years, but then I decided to break the rules and do things my way.

How to, step-by-step, make expressions mean different things by changing just one facial feature at a time. *shrug* Iām not very good at explaining how I do expressions, I justā¦feel out what kinds of muscles seem to fit and tweak those. And sometimes, ever so slightly, little adjustments could mean the difference between fury and euphoria.Ā
Hereās some tips, of course nothing professional, but things Iāve learned myself.
Hope it helps some of you guys. ovo
How to: draw an underwater bubble I donāt know why I hadnāt posted this sooner. I totally forgot! I hope it can be useful Originally from my deviantart.
The way you draw bodies is so fluid and animated yet believable. Would you have any advice on how to do that?
i mean i dunno ! i think a lot of it comes from just. a lot of experience with drawing people. cafe drawing always helps w that
beyond that, and i think this might sort of come out of left field and idk how legitimately applicable it is, id try animating. which might sound weird, but if youāre an artist and youāve never animated anything; animate something. seriously. and it doesnāt have to be long, but it has 2 be GOOD. and being good means a LOT of frames per second.
good animation, making animation that looks good has has weight and is fluid is an AMAZING feeling because it feels real in a way that. i dont know, is sort of hard for me to even describe? animating isnt justĀ ādrawing a lot of similar pictures until they blend together,ā its completely mastering an understanding of movement and weight and momentum and the way wind rolls through hair, and. theres just nothing else quite like it, theres SO MUCH going on under the hood of good animation that you never think about if you havent done it
beyond that, yeah. practice. cafe drawing, study people. another thing you do when animating (and i only have minimal experience w this, my major is NOT geared toward animation) is just. collect reference of people moving. all the time. scroll through the frames. looks at videos of real people dancing, look at videos of real people moving, watch their hands, watch how their weight shifts, etc. its VERY informative.
its also important to have a good understanding of anatomy, a lot of stiff poses come from people putting the figure together like a doll because thats the only way they can get proportions right. and as much as it seems like that would make sense, it really shows if you do that! nothing in a human skeleton is actually perfectly straight ! so if you draw like THIS
it will SHOW and it will HURT YOU. you are not doing yourself ANY FAVORS by doing this.
THIS is more what youāre looking for if you just wanna jot down the generals before you get into the rest; which is a good idea !
look how much more expressive that is ! all the landmarks are there, everything you drape over something like this will flow, it will have mass, it will look like muscle and fat hanging off bone in stead of a bunch of wrapping paper tubes glued together
idk, thats all ive got for now ! beyond that, practice practice, i guess !
