"Sorry, I'm a bit nervous --" Nova confessed as she smoothed her hands down over her dress. There was some effort put into looking cute today. "Uhm, where did you say you were from again?" A simple question to get out of her own nerves before she raised her bubble tea up to take a tiny sip from it.

Taking care to not step on in glass or ceramic, Nova eased around the clerk counter to check on her register. A quick look at it and she could see that it didn't look like it had been bothered. Tapping a code into the cash register's keypad to open the tray confirmed that money was still inside of it. "Doesn't seem like any of it is missing, Ev. Maybe - people just hate my flowers? Should I call the cops? Would they do anything?"

levels him with a stare — the expression on his face not convincing her. zoya knows him well enough to tell when he's downright unimpressed. "oh, don't give me that look," she straightens up where she's seated, scoffing. "i wasn't interested in dating anyone. but things happen." shaking her head, finds her gaze falling to the pavement in front of her. as if uneasy in looking at him. despite speaking the truth, kaedric's apparent issue with it all made her feel guilty, somehow. had she done something wrong? meeting her boyfriend had been an unexpected surprise; one she could not have predicted in a time she had intended to focus on herself. but wasn't that the saying: the best things in life happened unexpectedly?

"I ain't saying any of this to tear you down. But you're right: I never met the dude. Only seen the one or two pictures you have with him on your Insta." He remarked while reaching up to pinch the sweat-coated bridge of his nose. "A lotta people usually let their friends meet whoever they s'pose to be dating." Not a requirement at all, but the way he spoke made it seem as if it's a law.

"Never said you lied, Zoya -" Kaedric immediately gave his rebuttal, the basketball smacking down against the asphalt. He chained some simple dribble moves before guiding the ball towards his other hand - which was followed by a quickstep towards the rim. a pull-up jumpshot from the midrange, the ball arched into the air... but the shot didn't fall. The ball only bounced off the rim and went rolling along the sidelines.

Jade had been wearing a small, practiced smile. One she'd put on the moment she stepped outside. More out of habit than excitement. Yet, the second that familiar Rolls Royce turned the corner and eased up to the curb, that smile melted. The car looked so out of place in front of her modest brick building. Its reflective surface caught every bit of city light like it was begging for attention. She exhaled slowly through her nose. Be calm. Be normal. She knew she couldn't exactly pick him up in her little Beetle, but she still wasn't used to being the kind of woman who waited for a man in a half million dollar car. Or the kind of woman who had to think twice about who might be watching.

Her stomach rolled with a familiar dread. Prying eyes. The photos snapped without permission. Sudden ambushes outside crime scenes, or on her way into the lab. The fact that paparazzi had actually shown up at her job still made her heart race with adrenaline. Fight of flight is a real thing. She always considered a fighter. Lately, she's been feeling the pull to run somewhere to cool off her nerves. She hated the spectacle of it. Worse still is how invasive it all is. Jade simply hated her worlds were bleeding together in ways she couldn't always control. Seeing that car felt like a reminder. She wasn't invisible anymore. Someone was always watching.

But then Kaedric stepped out. Anyone would know he is. Tall, careful, always remembering to open her door like she mattered. The tightness in her shoulders eased a little. When he said Clover it still hit her somewhere soft. Some quiet place she didn't know how to describe. It tugged her smile back into place, this time a real brightness. Her eyes almost lit up with it in that way that made them pop. "Well, hello gentleman All-Star. My sweet tooth is probably the least of our worries today." She nudged him lightly with her hip, before sliding into the passenger seat.

A few quick steps allowed him to round with front of the vehicle with no trouble. Once he had returned back in the driver's seat, Kaedric closed the door shut and just abandoned his seatbelt for now like he would do sometimes. Tinted windows meant he could get away with it every once in a while. Reaching over towards the entertainment console, Kaedric's fingers brushed against the touch screen. "Day... thirteen? Yeah, thirteen -- Day thirteen of picking out different cafe teas for you to try. Gotta see if somethin' beats out Oolong with you, babe." Kaedric's voice came out in its deep timbre, but with a calm tone. The speakers played out some sports podcast that he had been listening to earlier, but he soon shuffled through the media until some RNB song started to play.

Alicia leaned back in her chair as she twirled her boba straw between manicured fingers. "Girl, you sure you know what you're getting yourself into subbing at that Godolkin place? Ain't that the school with all them scandal rumors every other week? Mm, yeah, I saw it on TikTok. 'God U gone wild' or whatever." Her scoff turned into a brief laugh, like she already had the whole situation figured out before Nova could even defend herself.

Her attention shifted past her friend. "Hold up," she called over as their waiter passed by. "Hey. Come here real quick." Her tone turned slightly flirtatious, getting a good look at this hunk again. "Can we get a couple of those spiked milk teas? The lychee one for me, and whatever my girl's having. Surprise her." She winked up at him before turning back to Nova with a conspiratorial smirk. "If you're gonna survive a day at God U, from what I heard, might as well start prepping now." ! @grandi0sity

After offering that waiter the most awkwardly forced smile as possible, Nova leaned back in her seat. "I mean -- it's just gonna be a little something extra to help out with that new flower cooler that I did. That thing is almost 5,000 buckaroos and my old one is dying quick. And I don't want to ask anyone else for that." Nova admitted to Alicia as she squinted her eyes at the situation.

Alicia let out a startled sound the second his hands landed on her waist. "Kaedric, what the...!" Her voice cut short as he lifted her clean off the floor like she weighed nothing, setting her on the cold marble with a thud that made her palms slap down for balance. The second her footing steadied, she shoved at his shoulder hard with the heel of her hand. "What the hell you doing?!" Her eyes widened with disbelief. Like what planet does he think this is okay on?

When he leaned in, blocking her in like he was some kind heartthrob instead of the headache she'd been arguing with for ten straight minutes, Alicia rolled her eyes. "Oh, you gotta be kidding me." But even as she tilted her head back to glare at him, that breath of his ghosted across her neck. Against her better judgment, a shiver ran down her side. One she tried to smother quick with attitude.

"You better stop this shit, Kaedric." Her voice came lower now, strained somewhere between warning and something else she didn't want to think on. "Not the one trying to get on nobody right now. But funny how you just had to put hands on me to get me up here, huh?"

She met his gaze head-on, her lips curling into a half smirk. "Ain't like you gonna make a move if I was, though. You just like the sound of your own game. All talk, no action. Typical Kae Bae."

"I better stop... or what? Hm?" He questioned, each word providing a rush of warm air from is mouth to the skin of her neck. Even in all his threatening movements, Alicia continued to challenge him on the matter. It comes a time where someone has to show that they are made of more. He has shown that to millions of people, and now he will be showing that to her.

Within that next moment, his full lips found purchase on a column of her throat. No bite from his teeth, but a solid grip still. That hold soon devolved into a series of soft kisses, each one a testament to his own defiance. Kaedric's beard tickled against the part of her collarbone that was exposed.
