August can’t lie — finding a positive in the midst of this situation has been difficult even for him, someone who is known to never take life seriously. Considering the future may not be his vibe, but he didn’t expect his (now ex) girlfriend Dana to go and fuck around with some uptight dude that doesn’t wear socks with loafers. So, he has a 401k and knows how to invest in a stock? Big whoop. Where’s the fun in stability? There’s no room for surprise. Dana may argue that August leaves little to the imagination in his own way too. That sleeping in until noon — due to his job, which Auggie has expressed a thousand times — and seeing how many cheetos he can catch in his mouth while watching another rerun of Friends isn’t worth the time and effort anymore. Either way, fuck her. She went about dumping him the wrong way, which wasn’t even an official breakup to begin with. August caught her with him in his building’s parking lot, making out in the car. It probably says more about him that his first instinct was to go upstairs and smoke a joint over confronting her. He did anyway, which led to Dana screaming at him for an hour while she packed about how Auggie ‘lacked direction’.  Moving on from this wouldn’t be all too bad if it weren’t for the constant reminder haunting his apartment. Was it stupid agreeing to let the dude’s ex move in here? Probably, but they were left out to dry in a similar fashion and didn’t have anywhere to go. Auggie had a spare room and needed someone to split rent with. It was reasonable. Only now he has to clean up the kitchen after himself and can’t walk around half-asleep in his briefs. He also has to deal with random crying at 3 am when he gets home, filtering in through the thin walls.

“Hey,” Auggie greets. It’s a Thursday around 8pm and he’s on his way out. The figure covered in a fluffy blanket on the couch stops him though. “You look… like a depressed wizard. Gandalf after a divorce, maybe.”

Shiloh stares for a minute, then glances around like he's trying to figure out who exactly they're talking to, but it becomes very apparent that it is, in fact, him to whom they're referring with a completely different name.

"Oh, um...?" Brows twitch downward and he squints at them in confusion, blinking hard a couple of times. He's not exactly sure how to handle this considering they seem relentlessly convinced he is who they think he is.

"It's more or less a ghost town, at the moment, but it's not all bad," he said through half a smile.

"There're the animals, for one thing. Crocodiles, butterflies, foxes ... all manner of living things." He'd grown up in the mountains, so the quiet wasn't grossly different from what he was used to, but he was eager to fill the empty buildings with busied bodies.

“I will treat you well,” Alastair told her, looking at her and speaking gruffly. He’d lived in court for the first thirteen years of his life, but the Viking lifestyle had taken away his polished linguistics. “I don’t plan to harm you, or force myself on you,” he swore, trying to make the crying princess feel better.

Was he losing his mind? No, they were standing there; there was no need to pinch them to confirm that. Did he have an explanation for what was happening? Absolutely not.

"Wha—No, I'm okay, please come in."
