procrastinate writing with me

August is one of the first humans to be gifted magic. But for him it feels more like a curse. With little control over this magic he creates often-nightmarish and far too convincing illusions. Forcing him to question both reality and his own sanity.

When the charming god of darkness, Alono, comes to ask for August’s help in return for getting his magic under control he accepts eagerly. All he’s asked to do is kill one person, in order to complete a prophecy that will give Alono more power. Something he thinks his conscience will just about be able to deal with.

AND I am now instead starting draft 3 of a different WIP called project fate (not going to be its actual title fyi.) I am now ready to start yapping about that on here.

Lemme tell you a thing: This is Atlas. Pirate, Prince and occasionally bbg.

He left the palace while he was still a child after his father ordered him dead for practicing sorcery. That’s when he met Clara and they became pirates. After the Godess Love convinced him he is now going to take back the throne. But guess what. He didn’t originally exist. He’s absolutely vital to the plot now and has his own POV but originally he didn’t. Originally Magic’s Treason was a story acting as a sequel to a prequel to a different book I wanted to write. This was because I was submitting it to my school to be put on their website thing and I didn’t want to use the idea I liked the most so I just came up with a different thing in that world. That was two very short chapters about Clara (who was going to be a magical pirate child in a prequel who then was related to a main character in a future different revolution plot) and about Chaos who was sort of the same as he is now but with some stolen backstory from Atlas.

Now you may ask; where did Atlas come from then? He came from a variety of places. He’s sort of based on this one shapeshifter OC I like to stick in everything. But I was starting to toy with the idea of giving him his own story inspired by a few books I’d read but I was never very sure about it because it seemed too unoriginal and just mostly vibes no plot. But I knew one thing about that world I wanted to put him in was that magic wasn’t allowed. And then when I went back to Magic’s Treason I had the epiphany that he would fit well into this other magic-forbidden world. He was already a pirate like Clara. And his Prince-ly connections could fit interestingly into this too. And then because I was already completely in love with him as a character and knew him very well it felt only natural to write some of it in his POV.

I honestly think his addition to the story was the best decision I could have ever made. Without him I don’t think I would have finished the first draft. I think there would have always been something missing from it. And I think writing in his POV has helped me to in tern develop my other characters to sound more unique and have more personality.

Let me tell you all about this cutie pie because I love him and I’m making it everyone else’s problem

My brain: what if I give you the brain cells and you can concentrate

My brain: just try it

Me: okay *opens up story* *loses all ability to form sentences* YOU LIED TO ME

So in Magic’s Treason magic is only able to be used by certain people who were gifted it by a God. Depending on what God gifted it to them they will have a different linked specialty of magic. Even if two people have magic from the same God their speciality can be different, for example the God Time could have one person with the speciality of prophecy and another person with a speciality of time travelling. People can have a speciality which is a little less specific so for instance someone can see the past and the future. So it could technically be split up into prophecy powers and memory powers but it’s not they’re just one powerful sorcerer.
