Get Yoā life together guide:
FIX YOUR SLEEPING SCHEDULE (1-2 months)
Try to wake up earlier every day. Like 5 - 10 min earlier than the day before. Until you wake up any time before 8am or soā¦
If you struggle with waking up & snooze button is you bff:
Put your alarm clock as far away from the bed as possible.
Drink a glass of water right after you wake up.
Pour another glass of water on yourself right after you wake up.
Prepare some coffee the night before, leave it by your bedside, drink it after you wake up.
Have your blinds/curtains open, so that itās bright after you wake up.
Try to go to bed 5-10 min earlier than the night before.
Track how many hours of sleep youāre getting. Aim to get at least 7h per day or 49h per week.Ā
Increase your sleeping hours incrementally. Aim to get at least 1h of sleep more than the previous week. For example, if this week you slept for 41hrs, aim to get an extra hour of sleep next week, so itās 42h.
Once you get enough hours of sleep and wake up early-ish. Try to keep your sleeping schedule consistent. It is really important to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.Ā Even if itās weekend. Or even if that means, you getting less than 7hrs of sleep that day. Iād say waking up at the same time everyday is the most important step, which will help you the most with fixing your sleeping schedule.Ā
START EATING HEALTHY (1-2 months)
This step really depends from person to person, but firstly I suggest you take some blood tests to see if you have any deficiencies, etc. Especially, if you struggle with cravings.Ā Ā
Try intermittent fasting, if you struggle with binge eating or overeating. As it will help you to learn to listen to your body better: when itās hungry, when itās full, etc. Itās really simple, there are many methods of Intermittent fasting, but Iād suggest 16/8 for the beginners. (Google it for more info)
DRINK ALL THE WATER. Again, if youāre not drinking enough water, try to level up your water game incrementally. Download some water tracking app on your phone to help you. Drinking water will make you more energetic, increase your metabolism, and decrease you appetite (among many more benefits).
Track what you eating. I would really suggest tracking your meals for around a month. Because, most of the time people have no idea that what theyāre eating is unhealthy. Again, download an app to your phone for that.
Make your own meals once in a while. Not only this will save you money, but itāll help you to see whatās really going into your body.Ā
Eat less meat and more veggies/fruits. Go to your local market and buy some veggies/fruits, you have never tried before. Iām sure youāll find your new favs. Eat/buy less meat. Not only itās good for the environment, but it is good for you, too. Get a veggie burger instead of the beef one, etc.
Cut dairy. Find your new favourite milk substitute. Advice: Oat milk is really good with the tea and oatmeal/porridge; hazelnut milk is amazing on itās own; cashew milk goes well with cereals.
Learn more about nutrition in general. It will help you to make better food choices and it will make eating healthy much easier in general, because once you understand all the chemistry behind the food and what it does to your body, you kinda donāt want to make yourself feel worse. Here are some free resources: -Ā Human nutrition course from Alison.com -Ā Crash course Metabolism&Nutrition: Part 1 and Part 2 -Ā The Health Nerdās YouTube Playlist about nutrition -Ā What Iāve Learnt YouTube Playlist
GET PHYSICALLY FIT (2-6 months)
Define your goals. Do you want to lose weight, do you want to get stronger, gain weight, be able to climb stairs without losing breath, run 5k?Ā
Remember - youāre half-way through. Being physically fit has a lot to do with what you put into your body. So, if you fulfilled the previous step of eating healthy - you are half way through!Ā
Make a plan.Ā Ā A Reasonable plan. Be honest with yourself.
Start small. Like, 5 min exercise in the morning. Or doing 10 sit ups per day. Donāt do anything overwhelming, like running 5k everyday if you havenāt run for the past 5 years.
Make sure that you kinda like what youāre doing. If you absolutely hate running - donāt do it. Hate doing sit ups in the morning? Try some yoga instead.
Explore until you find what you like. You donāt have to go to gym to get fit, especially if you hate it. Find a type of exercise, which you actually like. Maybe itās dancing or hiking, taking your dog for a walk. Sign up for several trial lessons of various sport clubs. DitchĀ āem if you have them until you find something that you love. Stick with that.
Do the small changes in your everyday life. Stairs>Escalator, Walk>Drive, Do some squats while brushing your teeth, switch from regular desk to standing desk, etcā¦Ā Find ways to incorporate being active into your everyday life
Track your effort instead of your progress. You cannot really control your progress that much (especially if your goal was to lose weight). However, you can always control your effort. So track it instead. This will leave you more motivated. As you will be able to see that you can do more and more everyday. Whereas, if you tracked your progress, you may not always get the result you hoped for, which might demotivate you and make you upset, wanting to quit.
BEAT DEPRESSION
Do the previous 3 steps and youāre half way through.Ā
See a therapist/doctor. Depression is an illness, requiring medical treatment. So, get it. Remember: there is absolutely no fucking shame in having a mental illness.
Get some extra support. Talk to your friends or family. Or maybe someone on the internet.Ā
Write it out. If you donāt want to talk - write down your thoughts. It can be just as helpful. Itāll help you to understand yourself better, see problems in your thinking, etc.
Distract yourself from yourself. Get someone/something to take care of, so that you can, for a moment, stop thinking about yourself and focus on something else. E.g, get a plant, or a dog, or a fish.
Self-care day. Dedicate at least one day per week for self-care. Take yourself out, either to a museum or some fancy cafe, do some stuff you like, whatever your hobbies are, do some physical self care: bath, face mask, manicure, etc., listen to some nice music, watch a filmā¦..
STOP PROCRASTINATION
Celebrate your victories instead of mourning over your loses. So the only thing youāve done today was write one sentence for your 20 page essay? Amazing! Buy yourself a candy for that!! I mean, you couldāve done nothing, but you didnāt - you wrote that one sentence and thatās worth celebrating.
Do it for only 2 minutes. If thereās an important thing youāve been putting off for a while, tell yourself that you will only spend 2 minutes on doing it. If after 2 minutes you donāt want to do it anymore, great, stop it. However, after 2min. you actually might want to do more. No pressure either way.
Track your productivity. Track how much time youāve been productive that day. Try to increase that time by a little bit every day.
Always forgive yourself. So, itās been a week and youāve done nothing? Donāt sweat it. Let it go. Blaming yourself will bring you absolutely nothing. Nothing good will come out of your negativity on yourself. So stop it. Forgive yourself and start again. And again, if you need to. Never stop trying. Always pick yourself after you fall. Beating procrastination and increasing your discipline is a skill. And all skills can be build on. There is nothing in you stopping you from changing. Remember that.Ā
LEARN HOW TO DO TAXES (1h - 1 day)
Go to google.com.
Type in:Ā āHow to do taxes *the name of the country youāre living in*ā
Read the results.
GET MENTALLY STRONG ENOUGH TO MAKE PHONE CALLS
Remember that just as with beating procrastination, making phone calls is a skill. And, again, skills can be learnt.Ā
Get a new SIM card.Ā
Top it up.
Dial some random numbers and pretend to be a salesman, selling whatever you like.. E.g., trying to sell broadband, cable tv, trying to get people to donate for some charity⦠Or whatever really⦠Me and some friends used to pretend weāre selling kittens or wood logs. Alternatively, you can pretend that you dialed a wrong person and talk about whatever, e.g.Ā āHey, Jess!! You wont believe what I saw today!! *start telling a made-up story*ā¦āĀ
If you get uncomfortable - just drop the call. No consequences whatsoever.Ā
Repeat until you build up your game and your phone-call anxiety starts to diminish.Ā
SLAY THOSE BITCHES Congratulations, now youāre ready to take over the world, ma babies! Got getĀ āem!!

7 Ways to organize your laptop because we can always be a little more organized on our devices (including myself).Ā
How I learnt to study
During High school I was one of those students who never really had to work for my marks, I had the uncanny ability to leave my assignment till the night before and still manage full marks that is ..till I got to university, my first year was a disaster I was barely passing my units I was stressed and depressed, what got me through high school was clearly not working in university. So to stop my second year in university from being a disaster as well and to save my gpa I decided to learn how to study from scratch! Ā spoiler: It worked and my marks have tripled since I adopted these habits. So here are the things I started doing!
- I invested in school supplies that I NEEDED and not just for aesthetic, example I bought tons and tons of basic cheap notebooks because I knew I was going to do a lot of writing and things like flashcards. My rule of thumb was if its functional its perfect.
- I attended every lecture and every class no matter what the time was! This is essential as it saves time later when you are rushing around trying to catch up.Ā
- I tried to stay up to date no matter what! Before I would let lecture after lecture pile up but ever since doing this, my study life has been much easier to cope with.Ā
- UNDERSTANDING EVERYTHING YOU LEARN FROM THAT WEEK, I cannot stress how much this has helped me. If I am learning about a topic in week 5, I have to understand it fully in week 5, not when I am in finals week and stressing out. I use resources such as textbooks and the internet to help me understand or I will ask my teacher. The important thing is I understand it fully.
- Be organised! Ā Know when you have an assignment due, there are so many ways to do this. Handheld planner, wall planner, phone reminders, there is apps such as my study life. Anything that will remind you to get started on the thing before it is too late.
- Review your notes weekly or fortnightly!!! Memory works by relearning, instead of cramming the night before exams, review weeks before.
- Break down your essays weeks before its due, you donāt have to start writing them right away but at least start thinking about them.
- Utilise any free time, for example instead of listening to music on my 45 min bus ride to uni I started listening to a psych podcast or doing my readings for that day.
- Have mental health days, I found out how difficult it is to study and how necessary it is to take breaks. Studying is stressful, have days/half days where you relax and look after yourself.
-Cut down on caffeine, I was a serial coffee addict, Im talking 4 shots a cup three times a day. Cutting down reduced my anxiety and got me sleeping more, which improved my mood and energy.
- Have a study buddy/group, find someone who is serious about their study and have study sessions with them, you get to study and have a social life.
- Find a study schedule that suits you, donāt feel pressure to get up at 5 am if you find it easier to study at 6pm.
- Have a study place, that you know you will study in! It can be your local library, your desk, your bed. Anything that you find will work for you!
Okay if I were to reiterate the points that I think are true because it is EXACTLY my experience, then Iād have to copy and paste everything! LEGIT EVERYTHING IN THIS POST - IF YOU WERE LIKE ME AND BREEZED THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND NOW UR IN LIMBO IN UNI THIS IS THE POST!!!!!
But also, go to lectures lmao

so I rearranged my room last night and I didnāt think it could get more cozy than it was but??? I was wrong!!
this morning, I took my old testament final. yanno, the one Iāve been working for non-stop? and let me tell you. LET ME TELL YOU. I was warned that it was nothing like the study guide. I WAS WARNED AND I DIDNāT LISTEN. so I feel like I got wrecked!!!!!!! it was 15 āidentify the book that this passage is fromā questions and 5 essays, we only had to answer 12 of the idenfication ones and do 4 essays, and likeā¦.the study guide maybe helped me out like 12% just because I knew context and what each prophet emphasized butā¦.I donāt feel great about it. hopefully my essays redeemed me bc I checked the two passages that I remembered and I got them wrong. LITERALLY FOR ANY WEIRD PROPHECY I GUESSED EZEKIEL BUT I WAS WRONG LOL.
if I have a point here, I guess itās justā¦.donāt be discouraged? like yeah it sucks that I might not get a great grade on this exam, but Iām not quitting theology because I donāt have passages memerized, you feel? Iāll just study it more on my own. if anything, studying kindled a flame in me and I want to reread the old testament and find all the amazing stuff in it. so justā¦.let failure propel you forward. donāt give up. go back and go harder!
January 23 2017 // Day 9 of 30 // a photo of your desk in use
Iāve been pretty busy for the past two weeks and its been a while since Iāve posted anything. Finally found some time to relax today and decided to make some changes to my study space, I guess Iām going for an autumn black/gold/white theme? ( special thanks to @emmastudies for the wall art!)Ā
I also really like this page of my hobonichi..Iāve been using it as a bullet journal/planner/sketchbook/journal and so far itās been working out pretty well!
