The explosion came without warning, its shock wave doing just as much damage as the debris caused from the initial explosion itself. It took out dozens of buildings, leaving nothing but devastation and death in its wake, but somehow, you had survived.
As you first began to wake, you groaned in pain, shakily shifting and biting back any further sounds of discomfort as you felt debris slowly shift and fall off of your aching body. It took quite a bit of effort, but eventually you managed to get yourself sitting upright, head swimming with pain and vision blurry as you tried to right yourself.
Movement out of the corner of your eye finally caught your attention, as your vision started to clear. To your shock and horror, you found your arms covered in black flames, your heart beginning to pound in your chest. Panic swiftly took hold of your heart and you shouted in alarm as you frantically tried to put it out, ignoring how much the vigorous movements agitated your injuries.
It was only after a few frantic minutes, that your aching brain finally started to catch up. Bewildered, you slowly went still, watching the strange black flames lick at your skin harmlessly, feeling lukewarm at best. A cursory glance at the complete devastation around you, showed that the flames were not so kind to everything else, eating up the damaged buildings and corpses, just as any other fire would do, only this flame seemed more vicious than anything naturally occurring.Â
Dazed and unsure what to do with this information, you flexed your hand slowly, wondering if you had any control over it. Seemingly in answer to your thoughts, the fire flared up powerfully, before snuffing out, taking all the surrounding fire with it as well. Somehow though, you could feel it still, licking softly beneath your skin and stealing away your aches and pains.
