Came downstairs and found this guy looking in the kitchen window.

Babington's leeks are finally opening, growing among kale, rhubarb, day lilies and artichoke in front of the fig tree. They're taller than me and I love their looks - elegant, absurd, extravagant. I planted five bulbils two years ago, but only last winter they started to grow well. Perhaps my soil is too damp. I have not dared to harvest them yet, though it's said they will regrow happily if cut. When these mature I will plant their bulbils and hopefully make a much larger patch.

I have over planted and shall pay the price. I should remove most of the oregano at least, but it gives such delight to bees...

Turkish rocket is an interesting perennial. It looks kind of weedy and tastes bitter when raw. But it's excellent cooked, and the little florets are great - like small, spicy broccoli. If you neglect to decapitate them you get this. It's almost unkillable and grows nearly year round.

Found a small sheep dozing in my bathtub. I hope she likes roses?
