Old Hollywood with a new Golden twist!

I've been photographing incredible women through my 40 Over 40 Portrait Series for several years now, and never in a million years could I have imagined the beautiful souls this journey would bring into my life. It started as a portrait project, but somewhere along the way it became so much bigger. These women have become family.

A few months ago we celebrated our gala, where many of the women invited their family and friends to join us for an unforgettable evening. Every extra ticket sold benefited the YWCA, which made the night even more meaningful. Then through the doors walked Leanne Crabtree and her husband Jamie... and I just stopped.

They were dressed with a level of elegance that honestly brought tears to my eyes. If you've followed me for a while, you know I've talked about my mom and how beautifully she carried herself. She loved fashion, Broadway, theater, and every excuse to make life feel a little more glamorous. Looking at Leanne instantly took me back to those memories. She looked like she had stepped right out of an evening at the opera in Rome. Timeless. Sophisticated. Absolutely unforgettable.

Little did I know that evening would lead to Leanne becoming part of the portrait series herself.

When she arrived at The Factory Photography... wow. They didn't just bring clothes. They brought an experience. Garments worthy of magazine covers. Incredible props. And my personal favorite... a gigantic oversized purple leather chair that had been carefully strapped down under a tarp all the way from Kentucky to Nashville because it was her signature piece. They unloaded treasure after treasure, including what felt like a thousand pairs of shoes. We even created one photograph that was equal parts fashion editorial, art installation, and rock-and-roll rebellion. I can't share that one here, but let's just say it involved a mountain of shoes, a little bit of guts, and a whole lot of edge. Basically... my favorite combination.

As if that wasn't enough, her son Dean came along for the adventure. While Leanne was changing outfits, Dean would jump in front of the camera to try a few poses of his own. He's an aspiring model, and watching his confidence grow between wardrobe changes was just another reminder that these sessions become so much more than photographs. They become memories. They become family stories.

Leanne, you are one of the most gracious, kind, creative, and fearless women I've had the privilege of photographing. Your style is extraordinary, but your heart shines even brighter. I am so proud to know you, so inspired by everything you're doing, and so grateful our paths crossed. Friends forever.

Today, we want to dedicate our song "Brave" to every person who has stood the watch before us and those who continue to do so every single day.

To our military, veterans, first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, and all those who answer the call when the rest of us need them most... thank you.

Because of your courage, sacrifice, and willingness to serve something bigger than yourselves, we get to chase our dreams, raise our families, create music, and live free.

Barbecue...

While I should be posting about how grateful I am to be on stage with this many amazing musicians and artists all I can see is that I look 6 months pregnant due to the fact that I had two helpings of barbecue before the show.

Pretty much everybody on stage knows that I had to help things and barbecue before the show because I was exclaiming enjoy how delicious it was.

These are the times when you have to start reeling it in and being a little bit more disciplined. Did I mention that I had two helpings of barbecue before this song?

That's exactly what happened with Joni Werthan.

Joni is the owner and president of Warioto Farm in Franklin, Tennessee, and for more than three decades has dedicated her life to breeding exceptional horses for the American Hunter industry. Her philosophy has always been simple: to breed horses with correct conformation, kind dispositions, and outstanding athletic ability. Those same qualities, kindness, integrity, and grace, shine through in the way she lives her own life.

Over the years, Joni has served on numerous boards and supported organizations like Alive Hospice, Colby's Army, Nashville CARES, Family & Children's Services, and many other nonprofits. Whether she's advocating for horses or helping people in need, serving others isn't something she talks about, it's simply who she is.

Joni and Warioto Farm were even honored by the Tennessee House of Representatives for their extraordinary contributions to the Hunter/Jumper industry. It's an incredible accomplishment, but it's still not the first thing I think about when I think of her.

I think about her heart.

She inspires me to be better. Joni reminds me that if we say we care, we should live like we care. She quietly walks the walk every single day.

One of my favorite moments during her portrait session was watching her step outside of everyone's expectations. We pulled out a legendary leather-studded jacket once worn by a famous punk rock band from Goldy's Closet, and she absolutely owned it. She embraced the attitude, made it her own, and reminded me that confidence isn't about what you wear, it's about how you wear it.

One of the unexpected gifts of photography is discovering that sometimes clients become friends... and every once in a while, they become friends for life. That's Joni. She celebrates everyone else's victories, cheers you on when you need it most, and has become one of those lifelong friends I'm incredibly grateful for.

People like Joni make the world softer, kinder, and more hopeful simply because they're in it.

That's what I hope every person discovers during a portrait experience with me. It's never just about taking pictures. It's about celebrating who you are, telling your story, and creating images that feel authentically you.

If you've been waiting for a sign to do something for yourself, let this be it. Book the photo shoot. Celebrate your journey. Try something unexpected, and let yourself be seen. You don't need a special occasion, you already are the occasion.

This woman is so beautiful not just on the outside but on the inside. Please take a moment to get to @amyjosmusic . She's a freaking force and she's busting her ass to make a difference in this world. Acclaimee, award-winning overall badass.

Thanks @amyjosmusic for joining our movement and encouraging young women everywhere to use their talents. This is a major message to the world that if you love an artist or a band, you're going to have to do more than stream their songs for free. Think of the most epic bands that you know, for me Foo fighters, Metallica, Prince... What if they were forced to give their music away back then for free? I doubt they wouldn't have even lasted for a year.

If we don't start auntying up and actually supporting artists by buying the record, a t-shirt a poster that cover charge... I want to connect with a human. I want to feel something... Emotion...
