when your gender experience (gender, desired/current presentation, dysphoria, other expressions) doesnt fit the human binary of gender alignments.  Instead of male or female aligned, one would feel like theyre more aligned with animals, plants, things, and/or concepts. These terms were made with alterhumans and xenogender individuals in mind, but any nonbinary person who feels xenic fits their identity may use it.

What the hell is this term?

Its a term made to help people, like myself and some of my friends, explain their gender in relation to the binary. Now, I love binary aligned people with all of my heart, but I havent felt aligned in that way in a long time. I’ve been hesitant to call myself non-aligned, because my gender IS aligned. Just not male or female. My identity is also highly affected by how I was treated growing up, mental illnesses, and alterhuman identities, I figured I should just make this happen.

Why is it useful?

It can help people explain how their other identities affect them, gender-wise, and it can also help people, like myself, who refuse to force themselves under acceptible terms for their genders.

How do you even say xenic?

Statistics: The Rand Corp. study from 2016 estimates that there are only 25 to 130 gender reassignment surgeries annually among service members.

Trump Administration: Too much money having to pay for that though.

Receipts: Transition related healthcare costs range from $2.4 million to $8.4 million per year. The military spends $84 million a year just to treat erectile dysfunction.

Identifying as nonbinary can be difficult when learning languages, but Sweden has an official gender neutral pronoun: hen. I did some research on it and got some notes from natives that I thought I’d share!

As I’ve mentioned, “hen” is the Swedish neutral pronoun, very similar to the use of singular “they” in English.

It took inspiration from the neutral pronoun of Finland (hän) and after much debate “hen” was adopted.

Its use is: - for talking about someone who’s gender is unknown - for talking about someone who identifies as neither male nor female - when the gender is unnecessary in the conversation

It’s been used in various places in Sweden, some say since the 60s, but was in mainstream media in 2013 and placed into the official Swedish dictionary in 2015.

It has two main uses in Sweden. The first is, obviously, for LGBT+ groups but the second is interesting. Some schools or nurseries have started using “hen” for their pupils so as not to push gender roles or identities on their students.

Its use is the same as han or hon

National Geographic Magazine Puts Young Transgender Girl On Cover

Gender roles are not the same as gender identity. I sincerely hope you never have a trans kid bc I shudder to think the kind of harm you would do to them given how obsessed you seem with forcing gender roles onto a six year old.

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry calls for a set of guidelines for dealing with trans youth that basically amounts to the idea that affirming a child’s gender identity is the only healthy and safe option.  Basically the idea is that the goal of psychologists/psychiatrists with trans, nonbinary, or gender questioning patients should be to help them figure out the best course of action to affirm their gender identity, not to cure them of it. 

The idea that trans kids should be “cured” of their gender identity amounts in the abusive and torturous practice of conversion “therapy.” This is what ideas like “parent’s just need to say no” end in. Torturing kids.  We are finally seeing a push by child psychologists/psychiatrists to end this pattern in favor of actually helping trans, nonbinary, and gender questioning kids.  

Nothing about a nine year old trans girl presenting as a girl is a “life-changing sexual decision.” Cis people have this absurd idea that once someone discovers they are trans/nonbinary, we immediately start hormones and go out and get “the surgeries.” In reality, physical transition is a slow process, the course of which (and the choice of which) every trasn/nb person has to decide for themselves.  

The most anyone is going to safely give a pre-pubescent trans kid is puberty blockers, the use of which are supported by a 2014 Dutch study and which are reversible.  Puberty blockers give trans/nb and gender questioning kids the time to decide on how and if they want to pursue a medical/physical transition and also helps them figure out their gender identity without exacerbating any existing dysphoria they may have.
