the first and most boring reason is that the flower was called Rapunzel, therefore Gothel named her source of power after her source of power. B O R I N G.

the OTHER and MUCH MORE INTERESTING reason is that Gothel cared for Rapunzel so little that she named her after a vegetable. A VEGETABLE. she couldn’t even come up with some generic name like Jane or Peggy NO she named her after LETTUCE.
