Doc builds a functional car out of a time machine. It didn't need to go 88mph but Doc added some wheels to it. Think like if you made the TARDIS drivable.

The good ending is Martys family is actually poorer but still happy.

And I've noticed that before, but today it got me thinking: what was that day like from the perspective of the 1885 Hill Valley residents?

Because from there point of view, the new guy in town Clint Eastwood: 1) Humiliated Buford Tannen in a fight 2) Immediately ran off with the local blacksmith 3) STOLE A FUCKING TRAIN 4) Proceeded to drive that train at speeds none of them have ever seen before and crash it into the ravine and die.

you know of all the things to happen during this trilogy, i think getting chased by a bear in the middle of the desert is probably one of the craziest

okay so you need to understand how the timeline works and basically for this you need to watch back to the future 1 and 2 (doc goes into detail in 2).

So as we know from back to the future 1 there are two timelines, we will call these TPM and LPM (Twin Pine Mall and Lone Pine Mall).

When Marty McFly goes back in time he is still in the TPM timeline however due to him running over a pine tree, he changes the past which is the TPM into the LPM so when he comes back into the present day he sees himself however that is the LPM Marty McFly. Which means that for around 10 minutes there were 2 Marty McFly's.

BUT now you have to really think about it, when LPM Marty left his timeline (went into the past) we never saw him return, and also the TPM Marty only stayed in that timeline for about a day, even less most likely which means... That Marty never came back to his correct timeline and most likely never came back, or went to a completely new one.

So when Marty and Doc and Jennifer go into the future (2015) how do we see older Marty? Because clearly that isn't the TPM Marty because that's the person we are watching, but also it can't be the LPM Marty because he never came back in time, but it is the LPM timeline because Biff remembers the flying delorean!
