Way-Late Godmode AU Headcanon
Back during the Godmode AU last year, when everyone and their cousins were making Godmode Characters of themselves and Amber and Sky were the big icons, Flailingwings and I had an idea. See, the Godmode AU sort of took on a life of its own, morphing from an offshoot of the Artists at the Ready OCT into its own private universe, with god-like beings causing all kinds of chaos and shenanigans on their own little realm of super-existence. Amber (in-sideunder) was considered the big bad boss of the evil godmodes,Â
and Sky (@samurai-sky)Â was considered the Lawful Goodest of all Lawful Goods.Â
 It was kinda neat, how it became it’s own separate thing.
But Wings (flailingwingsart) and I had kind of a cool idea for a story based around this that might tie Godmode AU and AATR back together.
See, if you know anything about The Real from AATR, you know that it’s a dimension that sucks in artists and has them battle with their original characters. Many contestants over the years have adopted the idea that the Real feeds directly off of the artists’ creative energies, sometimes in kind of a sinister way.
So what if the Godmode AU universe was really The Real, all along?
The idea Wings and I had was that somewhere along the way, the artists in the AATR Tournament (and probably some others randomly sucked in) were swept up in a pocket universe created within the Real. Their memories and even personalities were altered, and they were given amazing powers and new identities as these all-powerful godmode beings. Nobody who is part of this remembers it.
But deep in the dungeons of the Warden (Wings’ godmode),
there exists a character, named Suit. The Warden is the incarcerator of bad ideas, so there’s a lot of bad seeds in her dungeons, and Suit has a reputation for being a villain character, so the Warden makes a conscious point not to listen to anything he says, even though if you asked her why she avoids him so doggedly, she couldn’t give you a specific answer.
The truth is, Suit is the only character in this pocket universe who realizes what’s going on. And nobody will listen to him. Or talk to him, really. Comes with having a reputation as a master manipulator.
Of course, the story would go that someone (the Wanderer, my character),
WOULD get a chance to listen to him. And believe him. And realize that they’re all trapped in a lie. And start trying to explain that to everyone so that they can find a way to break free and go back to their real lives.
Some godmodes would believe it. Others wouldn’t. Others might believe, but not want to change anything, because here, they are all-powerful and immortal (or so it seems). People who do start to question it, start remembering bits of their former lives.
The real irony would be that one of the people who believes the Wanderer and the Warden, and starts remembering who she is, is Amber. The supposed Lawful Evil mafia boss Mother. Who I think we all know is, in real life, a very nice and cool person. So Amber freaks out a little (I’m sorry, Amber, somehow you always get sucked into my stories where someone has to be in emotional turmoil XD; ), realizing that she is in fact NOT supposed to be a murderous and violent rage-fueled crazy person, and joins the side of those trying to prove that they aren’t who the Godmode Universe has tried to force them into being – that they are, in fact, normal people, with friends and families back in a real universe who they need to return to.
Now here would be the real irony, and why Wings and I loved this idea: Sky, the Godmode AU’s poster child of Lawful Good and non-evil, wouldn’t believe it. She especially wouldn’t believe Amber, because Amber is supposed to be always up to no good. So Sky would be leading the side who are trying to stop Amber’s “side”, if only out of principle.
The climax would basically be a battle between two sides again: the side trying to find a way free of this pocket dimension and trying to undo it, versus those who either think they are crazy, up to no good, or who don’t want to go home, and thus are trying to stop the other side. And it’s still Amber VS Sky…
…but with the roles a little reversed.Â
That’s pretty much all we came up with. And obviously we never got it off the ground. But darnit if we didn’t love the idea, and I figured it’d be fun to share it in case anybody cared. XD
