As a StevenāUniverse fan, I would like to adk your help/oppinion;
I got an idea for some new gemstones. One of them is a small, beeš like one, no final name yet, but thimking something like Bumblebee Jasper or Honey quartz... They have a very specfic role; they can create any kind of gemstone, and sting someone with it, inbeding the stone. By this, they also d*e, as in term their body contains anything that a homeword em needs to form. This results in the target themself becoming a fully functional member of the gem race (they were created, so planets without good soil too could be colonized, or when the colony needed a bigger number of some specific gem kind quickly).
And like... I had an idea for an episode, titles "Gregstone" where Greg got stung by one of them, and slowly turning into a gem...
Placement is just a fun callback to his earring he use to have when he was younger
My question I would like some help with;
What could be a reason him not wanting to turn into a gem?
This is an important part of the idea. I feel all kind of peaple are equal, and there are adantages and strugles in each group one can enjoy or wish they wouldn't have... And it's always hard for me when an alien race like the gems come, and the story claims they and humans are equal, when one is clearly faster/stronger/has superpowers/abilities.
So, what should/could be a reason for a human, like Greg not wanting to be a gem and would prefer to stay a human? š
Powers arenāt everything. Gems canāt normally have childrenāthey donāt age and they donāt generally change. While some might want to become gems so they can have special powers or live forever, Greg doesnāt strike me as someone who would. Mr āI donāt need moneyā and āall I want is my van and my songsā Universe would probably have no interest in any of the advantages that come with being a gem, and would definitely not be happy if it was forced on him. Heād feel like his choices were violated, like someone is trying to make him become something heās not. He wouldnāt feel hungry anymore, wouldnāt need to sleep, and everything would just be a little too convenient for him, almost making everything he worked for all of his life feel irrelevant.
And, since this is Steven Universe, master of horror and adult subject matter for kids, I feel like the gem transformation might actually change him. Whatever type of gem he becomes, it would start programming him with a certain pre-set personality, role or cast typing, potentially even overriding some of his own personal wants and desires. It would be almost like someone imbedding an implant in your brain that says ādo this specific job,ā and makes you feel distress if you arenāt carrying it out. This is all optional, of course, and the concept still works without it, but it could be treated almost like an infection, potentially, if you wanted to go about it that way.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Hope it helps. :)
