Picked up some supplies to start making my GM tools for my Daggerheart game.
Then I printed some designs off to begin putting things together...
Then I cut things out, colored some maps, and put it all together. Voila! GM tools!
It's getting closer to game day!
The prep work has begun for a new campaign! Got some new dice and am hauling my handbook and notebook everywhere.
Coming soon on the Role To Confirm twitch channel, I will be GMing a Daggerheart campaign. I can't wait for y'all to see it. It will be my first time GMing a live stream.
Keep an eye out for more information about when and where to watch!
So today was a sort of âperfect stormâ it was a snow day and the launch of the new Disney streaming service. Which means that I decided to spend a chunk of time working on my homebrew (which is also my NaNoWriMo project) while watching Disney Movies from the late â90s / early â00s. I have been wor

So the last two sessions of my game have taken place in a small, cheerful village called Blossoms Veil. This charming town populated exclusively by half-elves. A town the PCs stumbled upon after escaping from some sort of demi-plane or pocket dimension where they left behind a party member who had

So sorry for the long hiatus. Itâs been a busy summer. It started with four days of DMing at PortCon Maine in Portland, ME. I ran four sessions- 2 each of Krenkoâs Way, a WOTC Ravnica one shot, and The Ladyâs Champion, a home brew one shot I wrote. It was 16 hours of DMing in a loud space and it w

Weâll start with a quick update: Still working on copyright issues with the podcast, but the goal is by next week for the RSS feed to go live. So hereâs hoping. This week has also brought on the development that I may now be able to attend my local Con and am in talks with the RPG staff about runni

So for those who donât know, last Saturday was Free Comic Book Day. So I went to the store a little early and collected my free books- which are super awesome! And it was also a Magic Open House and Draft Tournament Day. So I also got to try my hand at a real life blue/white Magic deck for the Open
New blog post up on the website!
As you may know from last weekâs blog, I am working on a podcast. Iâm currently trying to get all the RSS feed and technical things in place to launch that, but it is on its way! A cool experience this week at the store- it was a Magic prerelease weekend and there were lots of extra folks in the st

So I decided that I would chronicle for you my adventures at the D&D table- this may be just a silly recap of what happened in my game, an experience shared with a player, or something else that happened while DMing. Today I thought Iâd share with you what happened two weeks ago in the gam

Itâs About Time
Itâs about time that more girl DMs come to the table is what I mean.
And I know that pink and sparkly might not be your style, we all have different styles.
Growing up I was the girl who got dirty digging in the dirt with the boys while my barbies sat in their pink house all alone. Pink was never really my thing. But as Iâve gotten older I have come to really enjoy the many shades of the color pink. And as I have started to collect dice I have found some lovely dice in many colors, but I am partial to pink dice (and also blue ones but thatâs aside the point from today).
When I go to the flgs to game I bring my own dice and where I live girls at the table are still few and far between. So when I pull out my pink dice the guys would often poke a little fun at them, making jokes that they must not roll that well since they were so girly.
Which is why when I decided to DM at the flgs that I brought my pink dice, because they needed to know that the color of my dice did not matter- a crit is still a crit, that my gender did not matter- a DM is just as dangerous no matter the gender.
Itâs time for the rise of the girl DM! So come on girls, letâs show âem what weâre made of!
Make Some Noise Ladies
The rise of D&Dâs popularity over the last few years due to things like Critical Role and other streaming shows has caused many discussions over who plays the game. Of course anyone can play and the stereotypes are slowly being broken down. There are more and more people of all types playing, but I still see and hear regular discussions about how girl players and dms are unusual and that just should not be true. Get the word out to your friends: anyone can play or dm! Get your girls involved! And tell people too, donât let the stereotype persist say it loud and proud: Iâm a girl and I play/DM D&D!

Dungeon Master Essentials
I decided to make a list of DM stuff that I personally use or think are important to know when it comes to being a DM. So hereâs my list:
Medieval Fantasy City Generator: This generator is now my LIFE. It generates incredibly complex cities with good customization. (Thanks to plantkat for sharing this site in their post here)
Naming Your Towns/Cities:Â Now that youâve made your city, time to name it and give it some character! This post contains lots of great information.
Index Cards Rule: Fuckyeahdnd shared a SUPER convenient way of keeping track of turns and HP in combat. I use this system now for every single session I run.
Tricks & Traps: I am AWFUL at coming up with good Dungeon traps and challenges, this PDF includes some incredible ideas. The original poster, Courtney C. Campbell also runs a blog where she shares tons of great stuff. (Thanks to we-are-rogue for sharing the PDF in their post here)
Playing Different Types of Characters: Writeinspiration has a masterpost on how to write/play lots of different types of characters.
Unique NPC Jobs: Lauraharrisbooks wrote a list of different Fantasy Jobs which can help populate your world with some unique characters! Another similar post by Thewritershandbook also covers Common Occupations in the Middle Ages.Â
Developing Characters by Threes:Â Monticusrexâs method of creating characters help you really flesh out who they are. Useful for Players and DMâs.
Troublesome Players? Speak Up: Dicebound brings up an incredibly great point. If someone is being a jerk, speak up and call them out. This is especially important and relevant now to crush awful behavior before it even has a chance to show itâs ugly face.
List of D&D Resources: And finally, pretty much anything you might need for D&D. (Character stuff, spells, online communities/ways to play, etc..) A lot of people contributed to this post but thank you Mushroomancy for posting the original list.
Donjon: And finally, this site is a great resource for looking up Spells and Monsters along with tons of other generators. Not every single Spell or Monster is on here, but most are listed.
(I tried to give credit to the original posters or the actual URL for websites, unless those sites or URLs were no longer active)
Some useful tools for DMs
Anyone Can Be A DM/GM
Enjoy telling stories? Enjoy having fun with your friends? Awesome- you can be a DM.
Never played before and neither have the people youâre playing with? You can be a DM.
Played a lot but always with someone else running the show and curious if you could do it? Yes you can do it- you can be a DM!
Nervous as all get out because you said you would DM and now youâre facing a crowd of players at the table? No worries, you got this, nerves are natural- You are the DM.
Donât let anyone tell you that you canât do this if itâs something you want to do. And despite the name of this blog I do mean that anyone can DM. Boy, Girl, Gender Fluid, Trans, or whatever else you may be there is a place at the table for you. Find your people. The table top rpg community is a big place and there are so many good places in it. If you have found a dark corner where youâve felt unsafe or unwelcomed I am sorry but keep looking because I promise you, you will find a place to belong. Games are for everyone!
