It had taken some convincing both from her and from General Ironwood himself, for her medical team to allow her to spend a couple days recovering at home. Somewhere familiar and comfortable (exceedingly more so now with her dad in prison, where he belonged in her opinion). Since it was just her, her mother and Whitley now, she had the door open a crack in case she needed to go get something for herself-they’d had to let most of the staff go, according to Whitley, so getting someone to do it for her wasn’t an option. Not that she would’ve if they had any staff left anyway-that was something a younger Winter would’ve done.

Not the woman she was now.

She wasn’t expecting anyone to come in, though, despite the door being open slightly, so when the door did in fact started to open, she reached for Nix with her good hand.

To her surprise, Weiss was there. “Weiss?” She said in the same tone. “I’m here because I wanted somewhere comfortable to rest for a couple of days. I should be asking you what you’re doing here. You’re still on a Wanted poster, Weiss.”

she physically cringed at the reminder. it never left her mind , not even once. but she really didn’t want to hear those words from her sister. if she was being honest , she was hoping for a . . . softer reunion between them at the moment. something kinder than the harsh reality she has been living lately. 

❝ it’s— ❞ a pause followed by a sigh. ❝ a long story. ❞ how many times has she repeated this line ? one too many , she thinks.  ❝ no offence , but it’s not something i really can talk about with you. like you said , being wanted and all. ❞ hands fidget as she speaks , pausing once more to think about what she could at least explain to winter.  ❝ nora’s hurt. we just needed a place where she can get some rest. we’ll be gone before you know it. just— please , don’t tell him we were here. ❞ her eyes , the way they look at winter is begging her to keep this just between them. they can’t get caught. not now. they need to finish what they started. 

the middle child let out the breath that she didn’t realize she was holding in. finally being able to allow herself to relax once nora was placed in one of the guest rooms and gaining some time to herself. 

slowly making her way towards her mother’s room , she thought that she might as well say hi to the woman , check up on her , since she was here. but something else caught her eye. a light coming from the room where winter used to have. 

willow always did refuse to empty the bedroom out so it could be use it for something else. wanting to keep it there incase the eldest decided to come back home , even if it was for a small visit. she wanted to make sure her first daughter always knew she was welcomed and still loved , sadly , the message was probably never properly told. the only thing about it that was changed was to make it more suitable for winter’s age. though , important — well , what willow deemed important — stuff from the daughter’s childhood were left there. ranging from toys to clothes to old school books. their mother did care for her children in her own ways. even if they were never the best.

❝ hello ? ❞ weiss placed a hand on the door that wasn’t properly closed , allowing the light from it to spill into the hallway that originally caught her attention. the tiniest bit of pressure caused the door to creak open , the younger sister peaking in , wary of who may be lurking in her sister’s room. other hand went to her weapon because at this point , she has no idea who could be in there.

once she was able to see fully in the room , noticing the woman who is resting in the bed , the weapon was dropped to the floor. ❝ winter ?! ❞ she’s— she’s seeing things , right ? her sister shouldn’t be here ! she should be in the hospital. rushing to her side , desperately wanting to give the older schnee a hug but worried for her condition. ❝ what are you here ? ❞ 

❝ i heard something happened. ❞ the schnee ran up to the blond. slight panic in her words and within her expression but its obvious she is trying to keep her composure after that everything has happened within the short amount of time. 

nora is hurt and now , it seems that oscar isn’t with them.  ❝ is everyone alright ? ❞
