does that character “radiate heterosexuality” or do you just not like them. do they really not read as queer to you or do you just not like them. are you sure they’re straight. or do you just not like them.
i do think saying that a character a lot of people read as queer is straight and can only be straight just because you, personally, don’t like the character is homophobic. i do think that if you butt into a conversation and start equating them being uninteresting or boring or evil or ugly to you with them not being allowed to be queer is homophobic. that’s really fucking weird. stop doing that.
why do you think queerness needs to be earned. why do you equate queerness with morality or attractiveness or your personal investment in this character. even if you think the correlation is positive, you’re still saying that if someone doesn’t meet this standard you’ve set, then it’s okay for you not to see them as queer. i do not trust you if you assume people you don’t like are straight or cis. why are you assigning value judgements on people’s identities.
