Weeks, maybe even months. That's how long it had been since you found him. An odd connection through the tall, ivory entity that found you both. Maybe not 'connection', per say, considering he wasn't aware you even existed. 'Obsession' was a better term.
The first time you weren't even sure he was real. I mean, you'd been seeing a tall figure and hearing a light buzzing at least every other day; you felt deranged. It's almost as if you were stuck in a different body, roaming about with no piece of mind.
When you saw him, you were by a tunnel in the woods. Big, open, yet eerie and silent. As you emerged from the tunnel through other side, looking as if you were intensely searching for something (the buzzing that got increasingly louder), your eyes landed on what looked to be a figure in the trees. Not the faceless one, yet it didn't seem...normal. More like an animal stalking through the woods. He seemed to be viewing a camera, pressing buttons as he sat crouched by a bush. After a moment of fidgeting with the camera, he held it up, pointing it at you. But it seemed he didn't know you were looking already.
He stood quickly, immediately turning his heel and sprinting off into the autumn leaves, camera clutched in his right hand. You followed, but not for long; too swift for you to beat.
That's where it started. It only began as a quick encounter, but it spread to a type of curiosity that you had never felt. Then that paranoid curiosity led to something different. An infatuation with the person.
So, instead of sitting in the dimness of your house, scribbling dark trees and odd symbols, you went out to find him. It took a few weeks, but you caught his trail.
Or maybe he had already been on yours.
The sun was passing through the clouds as it went down and the air was the type of cold that made you force your shivers down, causing twitches and hitches in you breath. But that didn't bother you. Not when you had your eyes on him.
You didn't even know where you were, only that you were just feet away from him as he sat on a damp log, grunting as he tossed an empty orange pill bottle to the forest floor. You bit your bottom lip and snapped a quick photo before bringing yourself closer to the ground to conceal your presence.
After maybe a minute, he stood abruptly and began trudging away, further into the forest. You waited a moment more before creeping along the trees behind him, your steps a mere tip-toe as you followed.
The sun went down further, and the sky was a deep navy blue, little stars already beginning to pepper the broad sky. You hadn't used your flashlight yet, but he had.
Due to the surrounding darkness of the forest, you ever so slightly picked up your speed as to not lose him. As you sauntered among the colorless trees you felt yourself stumble, so entranced and focused you barely noticed until you found yourself paused behind a tree, a bright white beam of light shining around in your direction. Being the fool you were, you had clumsily snagged your boot on a root and stumbled, causing an audible noise.
It felt like many grueling minutes passed, but he finally huffed and continued to walk.
Unbeknownst to you, a small grin hid under his cloth mask.
You reached a big abandoned building. Whatever it was before reaching this state was no matter to you though, all you knew is that this was the farthest you had ever followed him. It was intensely risky, but you had nothing to lose.
Many detours and odd approaches were made in order to make this less suspicious. Different staircases, hiding in rooms before he came down the hall then slowly sneaking out as he passed. It's almost like you could predict where he was going.
Or maybe he was the one that knew where you were.
He walked into a big room, where a raggedy, twin sized mattress sat on the cold concrete. No blankets, no pillows, just empty pill bottles and what seemed to be little photos. You couldn't see what they were from simply poking your head in the doorway.
He sat for a moment, almost rummaging, before he halted while shoving something into the pocket of his mustard yellow hoodie. He walked out through a different door on the other side of the room.
You slowly stepped in and peered around, making sure no sound was heard. After a few moments of creeping across the room, you reached the corner and crouched by it as if you were still in the bushes. You picked up a pill bottle, grinned almost wildly to yourself as you shoved it into the pocket of your jacket. The first trinket from him.
Then, you moved the light towards the photos. Pictures of a woman. Sleeping, crying, changing, watching TV, even something as simple as her lighting a candle.
You picked up a handful of these odd photos and your breath hitched roughly as your eyes settled on yourself.
These pictures were pictures of you.
Your heart has been racing this whole time, but now it felt like a race car zooming through your chest and stomach. You gasped a little, an open mouthed smile pulling your lips up. He knew you!
He knew you, that's for sure.
As if on cue, a small hum shattered the silence from behind you. You yelped quietly and stood up so quickly you almost tipped over before whipping around, only to be face to face with the man of your thoughts.
"This is the farthest you've gone." The mans gruff voice spoke, a barely noticeable smirk forming on his cracked lips.
You were frozen, eyes big and lips parted in shock and fear. What were you supposed to say? Your eyes trailed over his face, though your sudden shock made it hard to process how he truly looked. The first time you saw his ruggedly handsome face, and you could barely even get it through your head.
He clenched the black piece of cloth in his hand at your silence. Not mad, just a neutral response.
"You found my pictures..." He paused, shrugged his broad shoulder curtly with a quiet huff of amusement. "Well, your pictures."
You stepped closer, almost being drawn to him. Something about his gaze was bringing you closer, like a magnetic or hypnotic force that made your body itch for him. He could kill you, and it crossed your mind, but at least you would get to see a sight you yearned for before drifting.
"Nothing to say?" He questioned sarcastically, though his tone didn't hold much to it. His eyes trailed over you before he grunted another comment, "Maybe this'll loosen your tongue..."
His hand dug into the pocket of his dirty hoodie, and his fingers emerged with a photo. He flipped the white side around so the actual image was facing you. A few steps closer, and your hand reached out for it.
His hand was gloved, but it's almost as if your senses were heightened and you could feel the warmth and the clamminess of his skin. You held back a shuddered breath as you brought the photo closer, your other hand shining the flashlight on it.
You, of course, but this one was different than the others. It was you in your bed, undergarments hugging your skin with your dominant hand slipped under your panties. You back was arched and your teeth bit at your bottom lip, brows furrowed and eyes screwed shut. Your other hand that rested on you chest held a photo like the one you had at that moment. You knew the photo, and it was the man in front of you. Whether he knew that or not was a mystery to you.
His grin slowly got bigger. The look could've been creepy to anyone else, but to you it was pure attraction when you saw it. He stepped closer, glancing down at the photo as his tongue flicked over his lip. He pointed to it before speaking lowly, quieter than before.
"This....This one is my favorite."
