I love blind boxes but I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the sudden releases.

Blind box BJD often have quality problems since a lot of them are from inexperienced small brands. Oftentimes, they have to keep the production small and affordable because Chinese netizens (their main customer base) can literally cancel them into oblivion if they set the price too high.

There's a doll sculptor I've been following for some time now and they've been working on this particular doll that I adore. My issue is that the artist has never expressed if their project is for themselves or if they ever plan on casting them. I don't want to express my interest in case it makes them feel pressured

There are some people in this hobby who have obvious shopping addictions and it gives me so much secondhand anxiety.

Can someone make like a master doc of what’s legal and what is punishable by death in the current day bjd community? That way we can avoid newbies getting immediately shunned for not reading up on every bit of forum, subreddit, discord, and tumblr drama there is before participating. And they can know which brands are good and not. That too I guess.

Okay real question should I post any of my custom blind box doll stuff anywhere? Cause she s a blind box doll, I acknowledge she’s just like, landfill core or whatever (not to me but yk in the grand scheme of things), but I feel like iced customers her enough to the point where I can show her without shame? I used polymer clay to give a new hair piece, just completely detaching the old one for storage or sumn ig, and I sanded and repainted her face and cut a but if her eye slits to change the shape and made new eyes, and I sewed and used clay to make her a whole new outfit cause the last one from the blind box was mid imo. Should I still tag anything I post of her as like, exclusively “blind box doll” and “blind box custom” cause idk if any of that means she’s a real bjd tbh. Idk. This is a stupid ask. I just don’t want to come off anti-artist. I know I should’ve probably just waited and saved up and bought a read bjd idk why I’m asking this I’m essentially screaming into the void whatever nvm

Sometimes I think about how the artist who sculpted two heads and had them both recast immediately dipped out of the hobby and it makes me really sad. Their work was so good and people just couldn't be normal or patient and now the artist has disappeared forever.

I'm in Florida. Very humid. Mr. Super Clear won't cure well for me, I've tried. Plus everyone acts like touching it is going to give you smoker's lung. Basically, I need alternatives. I ask on forums and Reddit and 90% of the responses will be "You NEED to use Mr. Super Clear its the ONLY varnish that has EVER been made!" -_-

I purchased my holy grail doll second hand earlier this year, but the seller never shipped it to me and I had to force a refund. now I feel like I'm never going to find it again, and I worry I acted too soon. but it really did feel like a scam. I mean, who sells a doll and then keeps the listing up for someone else to buy?
