Rear Window 1954, dir. Alfred Hitchcock
“do you know anyone here?”
the courtyard, in all its neon-lit hullabaloo, is packed to the brim. energy burns electric, burns hotter than the bodies crammed together, swirling and shimmering in her veins like starlight. she wishes she could bottle its essence, or at the very least wishes she had brought her camera. hindsight is a bitch, thus she savors the moment with a cup of questionable alcohol in hand, watching as those gathered mingle and dance.
"oh, i know everyone here," lucy lies. within a matter of seconds, she cracks, smiling heartily. the person, the stranger, who had invited her had been long lost by this point, not that she minds all that much. "kidding. i don't, no. do you?"
to add to this - lucy doesn't start misusing the money as some grand act of spite. she does it impulsively and it snowballs from there.

she's so cutie to me
anyway. i just rly love when characters are inherently good but make really morally questionable choices. lucy lying to her parents and misallocating her college fund is understandable. is it excusable. well… Hm
If landing yourself in a pile of shit day in and day out were an Olympic sport, Richie fucking Jerimovich would hold the gold. The kitchen was in shambles and orders were flying in from all directions. Carm was a hair's breath away from getting an original beef 100% lean knuckle sandwich if he kept pressing his buttons, and the crowning cherry on top of this epically shit day was being blocked in by some chick on street parking. @girldoom was not intimidated by his attitude when he first asked her to move her vehicle.
you’re not making this easier on yourself.
Richie cranked down his driver's side window and wore the weight of his no-good day all over his face. "Listen, hon, I don't believe or live my life by going at things halfway, so if it's necessarily to put myself into a tight spot to get my way, I'm gonna do it. You know why? Because there's no other way. So get your ass back in your car and move so I can get the fuck out of here! Please! Thank you! Fuck you!" He brought his open palms down on his steering wheel then hit the horn of his car a couple of times to bring home his point. "Fuck me!" he hissed to himself. The worst fucking day...
bad luck comes in threes, or so they say. upon arriving in the windy city, she was met with a lost hotel reservation. nothing new, but it's put her in a pickle. the pickle? securing lodgings of some sort before night falls. first strike. second, she didn’t quite anticipate how big, how sprawling chicago truly is. she's lost. she's been lost. thirdly, a blown tire. that's new, admittedly.
this man, however, could convince lucy bad luck comes in spades. judging by all the ranting and raving and temper, his day isn't much better. it brings her little relief.
leaning against the car, she crosses her arms, unyielding to his demands. "seeing as your vision isn't up to par - unlike your mouth, might i add - my tire blew, you jerk." she doesn't mention it's a rental. no reason to give him more ammunition. "what do you want me to do, huh? call a cab!"
started a pinboard :)
imagine you're just beginning your life. and on the day celebrating that, you learn your parents are divorcing - even though you've never known them to be unhappy. and not just divorcing, but your sole purpose for existing was to save their marriage. meaning you failed, meaning everything is now warped beyond recognition. imagine that you have no choice but to move on, but how? every memory is now tainted, bearing a context you had previously been oblivious to. their love has always been conditional, but you mistook it as support. you never questioned them. maybe you never really knew them. and now that you Know, the foundation of who and what you believed in is uprooted. your identity shatters. had you ever really had one? welcome to girldoom dot tumblr dot com
