what she means: isayama said that eren didn't grow his hair out for any particular reason other than he just stopped caring about his appearance which is a symptom of depression. eren has been struggling with terrible memories that are not even his own and likely having identity issues over it for the past 4 years. isayama also said that eren has a high alcohol tolerance which could easily imply that he's turned to alcohol during times of depression to numb the pain or to make the memories go away. he lopped off his own leg and gouged his own eye out. all he wanted was his freedom but instead he's become nothing but a slave to his own head and memories for the remainder of his cruelly short life.
