Reasons I think Pinkie Cooper failed - or, well, just some complaints I have (low-quality post since I'm tired and all, but whatever):
They are can be hard to dress, even though their demographic seems to be little kids (more on that later) - I mean maybe you don't know this if you don't have Ginger's dress, but Ginger's dress is SO TOUGH to put on and off! Some other clothing items may be easy - I mean I recently got Pinkie In Paris, and that was really tough TOO, so like, how are kids meant to re-dress them?! That's kinda the point - along with the ears, but I DREAD changing the clothes on them - it's partially because of the hips, and partially because of whatever the legs are made out of, I suppose - does anyone else have this problem? It's like when Betty Spaghetti's limbs keep falling off/out!
So, based on seemingly official Facebook posts, they wanted to target older people TOO, but like, that's not obvious - I mean yeah there's the Facebook posts, but for example, the cartoon, while not BAD, is low-quality for something that is seemingly "the next big thing", and kids deserve better, and there's how it's generic and doesn't really set itself apart from anything. You also don't get to see their parents, school, other friends, etc, and they really just go right into them being "jet-set" without what got them there (nor any social commentary, which isn't mandatory but could be nice) - and they don't do much with the "travel" aspect, as the process itself is barely shown, and the countries they're in is kinda just a BACKGROUND - they also had an episode where STALKING FANS were portrayed as quirky and annoying, including literal grown-ups, so they're really just doing whatever tropes at this point. They're supposed to be "these ears ARE their hair", but in the webseries have cats and dogs WITH hair that just comes across as wigs because of that, and dogs seem to be the dominant species, which they don't go anywhere with, because there's no world-building - I like the characterizations, but emotions and all, are, in a way, so GENTLE, and wrapped up in 5 minutes when the show could've gone for longer episodes - okay, I know I'm listing things beyond the scope/premise and not EVERYTHING has to be My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, but I just think it fails at both target audiences, the websiodes are not good enough, and the premise of "rich, fashion, likes to travel, likes friends, likes to be a girl" - is not original - like, Monster High had MONSTERS, and ACTUALLY did things with that premise, while Pinkie Cooper And The Jet-Set Pets does nothing with there being dogs, for example.
The dolls feel SO FRAGILE, and CANNOT handle being put in a bag it seems. Like, yeah, ideally I should put my doll in a room without direct sunlight, with neutral air quality or whatever, away from dust, handled with clean non-greasy no-sweat hands, only using products that can be used on a doll, not too close to other dolls, transported (if ever) in a clean no-dust non-stick non-grease non-sweat doll-carrier and sacrifice 10 mangos to my preferred God at this point (might as well), but THAT'S NOT MY LIFE! That's ALSO not the lives of kids who just wanna take their doll with them to play instead of souring the relationship by feeling forced to treat the doll like it's a precious original painting, or parents who won't read up on doll-care, won't give a shit, and are exhausted and just wanna shove a doll in a bag for their kid on a busy day. Monster High dolls may be fragile, and may feel that way, but as someone who has the THINNEST Monster High doll that can't even keep her head up, I'd say that somehow ... the Pinkie Cooper dolls feel WORSE! My Pinkie Cooper doll held up worse than my childhood Monster High cat doll when I was WAAAYYYY younger than now - I mean yeah, she basically became a RAG DOLL, but all her limbs were there, and I still remember her as feeling less fragile, than when I hold my Pinkie Cooper doll who is technically in better condition.
The articulation is in a way where they can't touch their own faces, which is ANOTHER annoying thing.
Honestly, I forgot more things, but there IS more - and also, WHY DO THEY NOT HAVE TAILS?! Also, the ears are, like, hard to store - like if you buy a fashion pack, where do you put that?! HOW?! That's all!
