First of all, wow they have a fucking huge flat. I live in a regular house and I’m pretty sure the top floor of the flat alone is twice the size of my place. At first i wondered how they could afford it since they just run a little knick knack shop, but they’re also in a band, Naboo seems pretty involved in shamanistic black market dealings, Bollo appears to be a successful DJ and Vince is implied to do part time modelling work, so I guess it’s not all that unlikely they could afford a place like that.
Also a large flat is probably the last thing we should be thinking about when arguing about the realism on this show.
Ok, so i was writing a fanfiction and I couldn’t figure out if Vince and Howard shared a room or if they had separate rooms as you rarely see their bedrooms, and some episodes have them saying stuff like “Our room” and others have them saying “My room”, so i pieced together a partial map of the top floor of their flat. It’s not to scale and very incomplete, obviously. Most of the evidence is from The Party, the only episode we really have any indication of where their rooms are. Just note, the layout of the flat is pretty inconsistent between episode to episode; it looked like the show seemed to add doors and add space depending on what they wanted to do in that particular episode.
When Howard is getting ready he comes out after getting dressed from the room at the end of the hall near the stairs. There are two other doors there, probably Naboo and Bollo’s room, or maybe storage areas for their music equipment?
Then when we see Howard knock on a door looking for Vince at the party, Vince is behind the two double doors nearer to the living area, still getting dressed, and he explodes out of the room later on.
We don’t see much inside either rooms except for Vince’s flowery wallpaper, so it’s doubtful Vince is in a bathroom, indicating that was in fact his room, unless it’s the room where he stores all his clothes and make up.
Later on, Howard points his room out to the party guests and refers to it as “his room”, and in the deleted scenes he’s shown inviting Pencil Case Girl inside seconds before she’s revealed to be Old Gregg in disguise. Vince is nowhere to be seen, probably off with the trendy girl, but it’s still doubtful Howard would invite a girl into his room if he shared the room with someone.
So, here’s my theory; they do have separate rooms; but the big bedroom Vince sleeps in is more of a storage room where he keeps his clothes and makeup, and it’s got a bed in there too for when he brings home a girl or boy.
Howard’s room is his room, but it has a second bed in it, where Vince usually sleeps. In season one at the zoo they’re shown sleeping together close on the floor despite the room having a couch one of them could have taken, so apparently they like sleeping next to each other. Also Vince seems like the type to have trouble sleeping alone.
In conclusion; Vince and Howard have separate rooms, but they usually choose to sleep together.
Mystery solved in the most adorable way possible.
