September 20th - 2:30pm Written by Penelope’s Mommy Penelope’s night was very rough. I dealt with it the best I could and tried to make her comfortable. I made sure she knew I was there and that I loved her very much. Every bad moment broke my heart into a million pieces. I’m supposed to make things better and I couldn’t. Her morning was not much better. She was suffering. As a family we knew we needed to make a decision. I know it was the right one and that she’s at peace now, but it doesn’t make it any easier. She was my best friend and she will be missed terribly. There are no words to express this. “I love you Nells. You were the best girl, out of all the girls, and Mommy loves you so much. September 16th - 10:30pm My sister Gillian has been going up to my Uncle’s house twice a day to feed my cousins, Max and Mo. She went tonight and guess what? “Nell, do you want to go for a ride in the car??” My ears heard that and forgetted that my body was sick! I jumped off of the couch and runned down the stairs! I LOVE BUH-BYES!! I thought I was not going buh-byes anymore! I rode in the car with Gillian and I waited in the car while she fed my cousins. I pretended that I was a car driver. Gillian smiled at me when she came out. I sat in my seat and I put my head by Gillian’s lap. I falled asleep on the way home. I sat with Mommy on the couch and rested my boo boo ear on her while she held a bandage on it. Daddy came home and I did my rattlesnake happy tail. Mommy got up to get a snack. Oh Mommy! What is that snack you have in your hand in the crinkle crinkle wrapper? *sniff, sniff* “Nell, would you like a piece of a honeybun?” Mommy feeded me teeny tiny pieces and I eated more of it than she did! “I know it’s not healthy, but it tastes good huh, Baby Bird?” Mommy is silly and calls me Baby Bird because of how she feeds me now. She also calls me Baby Bear when she gives me hugs and my cousin Alexa calls me Baby Deer because I have legs like deer! I am surprised that I even know my real name! I am going to do sleeps with my sister Gillian. I like to steal her pillow.

Hey! Gillian says it’s time to play The Sims! I am going to play too. Since I am such a good lap dog I will go sit on her lap at the table! I put my paw on her light-up typey thing because that’s what Gillian does. Gillian tries to hold me steady in her lap. I help her by digging my nails into her leg. I know Gillian appreciates me and how helpful I am. I will stay here for a long time maybe.

August 31st - 10:30pm Gillian was sitting at the table on her computer. I creeped over and did sleeps by her feet. She didn’t even know I was there! Mommy told Gillian that she had a visitor “Nellie! I didn’t even see you there!” Mommy said she wanted to try something. Mommy crawled to where I could see her.. She crawled towards me. A creepy crawl, very low on the floor. I used to go running at someone when they did that! I would plow them right over! I know what you’re doing Mommy!! I got up and went over to Mommy. I’m too tired to run, but I plowed right into Mommy. Right into a big hug. I plopped right down onto the floor there. She looked at the bumps on my boo boo ear. “Be careful with these. Don’t scratch them.” She kissed my boo boos. Mommy covered me with the soft blanket. Her blanket. “This blanket is softer Nell. You can use this one. I know you’re having a hard time getting comfortable with that big bump.” Gillian came over and cuddled next to me. I hope she is not trying to steal my fuzzy blanket! I don’t really think she is. She is just giving my loves. I loves her too.

The tissue treasure hunt has begun. They can be found all over Grandma’s house. Grandma is laughing hysterically because I stole a boogie tissue. I did not know it was a boogie tissue. They are laughing at me. I’m going to steal a teddy bear from her bed and then give her the sad eyes. Maybe I’ll get to keep it! Wish me luck!
