"Don't worry, I've already taken care of a few evil versions of yourself on my way here," he added, a hint of confidence in his voice.

Casting a cautious glance at the front door, Logan sighed and approached it, his keen senses detecting the distinct scent of Laura lingering in the air despite the locked entrance. He assumed she had successfully slipped through the door with her unique ability to vaporize herself.

With a sudden metallic sound, his claws slashed through the door, leaving it in two pieces.

Then, he stepped inside the house and began to look around, searching for Laura. His heightened senses picked up on her scent, prompting him to sheathe his claws.

'Come on out now, kid', he called out, his voice echoing through the empty interior. 'We need to talk.'

'Can't do sweetie. I have to take you with me to the mansion.'

Logan looked to her side, even though he knew exactly where she was hiding. He sighed and decided it was best not to cross her personal space. Instead, he settled himself down on the floor and said,

'You wouldn't happen to have any beer around here, would you? I could really use one right about now.'

For only a brief moment, a flicker of a smile crosses her face when he asks for a beer. It's such a Logan thing to do, she thinks. "Sorry, Logan, you're outta luck. I haven't found any secret beer stash in this place."

Laura appreciates his keeping his distance rather than encroaching in her personal space. It's a wise move, letting her come to him rather than the other way around. The more threatened or trapped she feels, the less cooperative she's bound to be.

As much as she wants to be left alone to grieve in private, there's also a part of her that wants to be comforted, that wants a shoulder to cry on. Some part of her wants to simply open up about everything and have someone listen and provide her some sort of comfort. Remy had always been the one to do that, but now he's gone.

Logan chuckled and grabbed her shoulder as she came out of the darkness. He gestured her to sit down and kept talking.

"You and i are actually quite similar. Cause we deal with sorrow in the same way. Some people try to distract their mind. Some people talk to their friends. But we just disappear, don't talk to anyone and stay alone."

He flicked her forehead.

She wants to be left alone; the last thing she wants is to have to face other people, putting on the act that she's fine, pretending that she's coping. When she's alone, she can cry, scream, throw things, deal with Remy's death in whatever way she needs to without being scrutinized. Who knows, maybe, if she spends enough time lingering in her vapor form, she'll simply evaporate into nothing and cease to exist... It used to be her greatest fear, but now, she can't help but feel it would almost be a mercy.

Laura is standing on the stairs of the abandoned house as she watches Logan cut down the door. Of course he's here. She'd forgotten how good he is at tracking people, even though she'd hoped that traveling in her vapor form would throw him off the scent. She should have known better.

She stays put on the stairs in the cover of darkness. "There's nothing to talk about, Logan. Leave me alone."

The sudden appearance of him made her turn instantly, facing that direction with a confused look on her face. He was the type of person to come and go as he pleased. When she did get the chance to be around she couldn’t help pushing his buttons. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” She replies as her eyes look him over.

The universe has been lobbing metaphorical handfuls of shit in their direction for too long, and on the night before Jubilee's eighteenth birthday, Tess is glad for the lull in... shit-throwing. Jean-Madelyne leaving, the loss of baby Nathan. Storm. Magneto showing up and making himself at home. A break from the grief.

Right now, her biggest problem is prepping for Scott's reaction if he finds out Tess is going to slip Jubilee a six-pack tomorrow. And making sure the creases in her wrapping job are nice and neat.

She squints at her work, picking at the tape stuck to her fingers before glancing up at the sound of someone Loganing his way through the room. "Yo," she greets, then grimaces because 'yo' doesn't roll off the tongue the way it did at twenty-three.

After finalizing his gift, Logan heads towards the room wherein Tess is staying. Squinting, he shoots her a look that instantly conveys his cringe at her enthusiastic "yo!" salutation. Regardless, he replies, his tone dripping in humor.

"Should we though? Looks like you've got some serious trouble letting go of your youthful years."

Logan is amused, chuckling for a moment before realizing he himself has a pack of beers for the occasion same with Tess.

"It seems this girl's in for good presents, huh?"

He takes one can from his pack, opens it, and takes a sip. Then he continues:

"But she shouldn't be drinking too much, right?"
