My new baby plants!!!! Can't wait for them to grow up so I can transplant!!!
A registered dietitian with an established career as a magazine writer, Clintonville mom Sally Kuzemchak saw a need for a mommy blog that addressed the realities of dinnertime.
In 2009, she started Real Mom Nutrition, with nutrition chops and a tell-it-like-it-is voice that you can now find on the pages of her book, Dinnertime Survival Guide.
Check out some of her recipes and learn more about her story at Dispatch.com.

Eight earthmoving machines are digging and pushing sediment around the site in this early, muddy phase of Scioto Greenways, the two-year project to reshape the river, make it cleaner and add about 33 acres of parkland along its edge by the end of 2015.
Weβve tracked the projectβs progress so far.
Everything you need to know about checking the four upcoming lunar eclipses here.Β
Just in case some of you guys were curious what the different types of Lunar eclipses were, hereβs a neat little gif-tastic diagram of the three types. Also handy is a calendar for the next ones, although the majority of America wonβt be able to see a full total eclipse again until 2017. The first of four eclipses in a series, the Lunar Saros 122. A saros is a fancy way of determining patters in relation to time relating to Earth-Moon solar geometry, so I present to you a Wikipedia article on the topic. For this eclipse cycle, though, their are no intervening partial eclipses of the Moon.
I love how this was put together!
(I know it's not gardening, but- it's got to relate somehow! ^_^ right?)

This is the basil I started not even 3 weeks ago. I didn't expect it to sprout and grow so quick. I am excited that it's actually growing! I've never attempted to grow anything on my own and the fact that it's still alive and kickin' makes me proud. If I can do it anyone can. I make sure it gets a few hours of direct sunlight a day... some days it's not gonna get much, this is Ohio... and I water it every other day. Look at it shooting up. Before the summer hits I hope to have a delicious seasoning for my dishes. :)
Growing your own food/herbs is a great option for low income college students. Food is expensive, and although fast food is cheap and convenient, it's horrible for your body and overall health. Childhood obesity epidemic anyone? By growing your own produce or even just herbs for seasoning, you can save tons of money. Seriously, tons. Seeds for vegetables & herbs are rarely more than $2 and easy to grow on your own. All you need is seeds, a pot (thrift stores typically have pots/vases) and some soil which can be bought for under $5. Lucky for you sunlight and water are free. Give it a try! Save some money & vastly improve the well being of your body... not just your wallet.
Use some empty containers to save money on pots for your plants!Β
1. Milk/juice/etc. containers. Plastic or waxed paper (shown above). Think even more outside the box! Plastic or paper box take out containers, perhaps?
2. Clean the container. I like to use diluted vinegar (chemical free!) but some dish soap is also fine.
2. Cut the tops off. Remember, you want plenty of room for root development and growth.
3. !!!IMPORTANT!!!! Using a screwdriver (or scissors, knife, etc.) to poke or cut holes into the bottom of the container to allow drainage. If you're feeling really ambitious put some rocks in the bottom for optimal drainage.
HAPPY PLANTING!
Another great, cheap trick for novice horticulturalists!! Simply use the cardboard center of toilet paper and paper towel rolls and stuff a little bit of newspaper inside and then fill with dirt! after the seeds sprout up put the whole thing in the ground or a pot. Happy growing!

Finally, after a few days of patience, results are popping up before my eyes! Don't be discouraged! Also, remember that not all seeds will necessarily sprout - that's why you get so many in the pouch. If at first you don't succeed, you must try, try again!

This is why I grow my chili pepper plants in grow bags.
Air pruning FTW.
