I LOVE love love your art. Im sure u get this question a trillion times but how do u get that almost crunchy, artifact like texture in ur pieces? The visible mark-making on ur pieces adds a beautiful tactile feeling. I love that u take advantage of the digital medium and add unique effects that u wouldnt be able to achieve in a traditional way, while still keeping a reminder of the artists hand thru the marks. 🔥🔥🔥

Im using photoshop mostly: two square texture brushes one as my main brush and the other as a mixer brush. I also use a regular round brush with semi transparent settings.
The thing is I apply sharpness in certain areas even across the entire piece and then smudge it out with the mixer brush while leaving some harsh edges intact
I basically do the same thing in procreate although I use different brushes there. The end result is pretty much the same. Very rarely i might also add a rust texture to the background. Another thing I use in ph is applying an emboss layer style to simulate an oil painting effect
in real oil painting the same effect is achieved by smudging the paint with ur finger and using brushes variously stiffness!

Please note that not all of this is 100% screen accurate and comes mainly from my own experience drawing him and cosplay experience! So keep that in mind.
I tried to get multiple angles on the more complicated stuff, like the chest plate and the gauntlet, cause those are the ones I personally find most difficult! But other than that, I cannot recommend using 3D references enough! Specifically I use this model and this whenever I draw Din and used them a lot for this tutorial. You can spin him around right on the webpage so you don't need to download software or anything!
Other than that I really recommend just drawing him a lot, from lots of angles! That's the best way to get comfortable with drawing this funny tin guy.
Depending on the response, I might do another reference for the soft bits/extra armor/belts! Just lmk on here or in the tags if you're interested. Oh and also one for Boba or Paz!

trinity santos is a study in fandom misogyny because they gave her all the characteristics fandoms usually salivate for in men, being gruff, quippy and misunderstood with a tragic backstory but a heart of gold beneath it all. they put all this into her AND let her be a lesbian. she's everything you could ever want in a character but she's not a man so half the fandom either hates her or constantly mischaracterizes her as petty, callous and aggressive while doing mental gymnastics to baby the male characters around her
that rooftop scene in the finale was actually so important.
the rooftop is the setting in the pitt where people have these big emotional beats in which they reach out and attempt to find community. this is established in season one between jack and robby. in the beginning of episode one, we see jack facing the void and turning away from it to follow robby back to safety, robby does the with jack at the end. season two reaffirms this interpretation.
all of these women we saw on the roof were on the brink this whole season. samira was personally and professionally adrift. mel was facing her malpractice suit and sister’s independence. perlah was facing national xenophobic sentiments and the pressure of being a highly capable nurse. dana was reeling from her assault and crumbling under the pressure of her position. mckay was realizing the depths of her emotional detachment. victoria was dealing with her insecurities and lack of freedom. trinity had the situationship and the frank confrontation and the child abuse trigger and the loss of dennis’s company.
all of these women were facing a profound loneliness, a profound void, a profound lack of support. they were all alone in this all day, briefly brushing against each other in moments that chafed and soothed in equal measure.
and just like jack and robby have each other to pull them back from the edge, these women can find that with each other in the exact same spot.
the pitt uses setting very well. the peds room represents the loss and gains of family. the bathroom represents the humanity denied to healthcare works. and the roof represents the community these providers find within each other.
they all have moments where they’re correcting, snapping, or disagreeing with each other this season. samira judges cassie for talking about her lack of intimacy, victoria and trinity have a more sarcastic relationship, mel flat out said trinity has a personality disorder, dana has been short with just about everyone. but in this one moment, they band together. they process the day, feel awe and exhaustion and sadness and wonder all at the same time, all together. they build an imperfect community out of tragedies.
