A floorboard shifts aside from the roof of the blacksmiths shop and a parachute floats down to Gianna containing a vial of jellyfish venom. There is a note included:
âBe careful with this.â -V. Carrella.
Hunt the Hunter || Colton, Gianna & Mena
Mena stared, eyes wide, as Colton took off running with Hunter chasing after him. When he disappeared from sight she turned and glaced around the building, at the damage the wolf had done. She deliberately pushed down all of the emotions she could feel rushing about in her head. She needed to be clear headed, observant, and analytical. Mena knew she needed to keep her wits about her, especially after getting a taste of what the game makers could really do.Â
Turning around, she watched as Gianna moved about the room, doing whatever it was that she felt necessary. Mena tucked the knife that the other girl had given her away, there was no way that she was giving it back. It was familiar, comforting and the most effective weapon she had at this point. Kneeling by her pack, she had a quick meal of half of one the sandwiches and 1/3 of one of her water bottles that had been in her pack.Â
Mena heard a noise and moved to pull the knife out before realizing it was Colton returning relatively unscathed. If she hadnât known to watch him before, she certainly did now. The group gathered their supplies and began to move out, Gianna and Colton seeming jockying for the front of the group. Mena followed a step or two behind, content to follow for the time being as it allowed her to observe the environment around her as well as the two in front.
With a brow raised, Colton gave Gianna an irritated look once she slapped his arm. âA simple thank you will sufficeâŚâ he grumbled. Didnât he just save the two from a hungry wolf? She could at least be thankful. Colton also took note that Gianna prefers things go her way, perhaps OCD that he could take advantage of later on. âWell I promise never to run off like that again, sweetie. Iâm assuming you missed me?â he grinned teasing her. There was no point in arguing. Stuff like that could ruin the alliance they were in and the trust they had for each other⌠if there was even any.Â
âThatâs something Iâd like to hear.â Colton smirked in response to Giannaâs suggestion. He was so fueled up by adrenaline, killing yet another wolf and attaining a sword as his reward from a gruesome fight. âBut somethingâs been bugging me since I got to this place. That sound from inside the room.â He shushed the two to listen, a ting soon being heard from the silence. âI just passed by a dead monster during my battle with Hunter. It wouldnât surprise me if thereâs more,â he stated.
The smirk remained in Coltonâs lips as he twirled the sword and made his way around the dusty counter to open the creaking door. âLadies first,â he grinned. The two girls had no battle scars. He thought that it was about time to change that.Â
While Mena seemed as prepared as Gianna was to move out, Colton seemed to hesitate. He was trying to push them to open the door, which made Gianna roll her eyes. While she herself was prone to falling into the trap of curiosity, there were more urgent issues at hand. Maybe Colton was stalling. Maybe heâd set a trap for both of them and behind that door.Â
âIf youâre curious about the door, then you go see to that. Itâs not really on the top of my priority list.âÂ
Hunt the Hunter || Colton, Gianna & Mena
Hearing both Gianna nudge and Menaâs voice, Colton awoke to a startling surprise. The little wolf pup heâs raised just became a wild vicious beast like his parents in by night. âWell, damn. The animals here sure grow fast,â he stated, trying to add humor to the situation as to make it seem less troubling.Â
Acting quickly, Colton grabbed all his belongs and rolled to the side, Hunter missing him by just a small distance when he decided to pounce on the boy. The beast snarled, staring at Colton right in the eye. âWhoa there, you donât want to end up like your parents, do you?â Colton couldnât find it in himself to end the poor thingâs life, but it was better to kill than be killed. That was the rule of the Hunger Games.Â
Hunter decided to pounce again, missing Colton a second time. The impact from Hunterâs head created a huge hole in the wall. Whilst the animal was down, Colton took advantage of the opening in the building and stared at his eyes. âHe wants me,â he stated. âIâll be right back!â With that, Colton leaped out of the empty Blacksmith shop and sprinted for the forest. Hunter chased after him, using his sense of smell as soon as the beast got back on its legs.Â

Gianna watched Colton run out of the building, Hunter in pursuit, and shook her head. He'd killed two other wolves, but she figured he'd just used instinct over anything else. If he'd just waited two seconds, he would have seen she had a plan for them to attack at once and easily overpower it.
"We should have something for breakfast and be ready if they come back," she said to Mena, slightly irritated.
When Colton came back, she slapped him on the arm. "You shouldn't have run off like that." Gianna was beginning to think an alliance with Colton had been a bad idea, since he was clearly more adept going solo and wasn't going to listen to her strategies. And now he had a sword to add to his inventory. She was regretting giving Mena a knife as well. She might turn into a literal backstabber. "And don't go back to sleep. We should get moving soon. If we keep off the path, spread out, create signals." She grinned.
"Let's go hunting"
Hunt the Hunter || Colton, Gianna & Mena
Gianna woke earlier than either of her allies. The first and most obvious observation she made was that Coltonâs companion had gone. It would probably upset him that the pup had abandoned him... She gave him a nudge with her foot to wake him up.
âWolfâs gone,âshe told him as he rubbed his face and grumbled. Gianna rolled her eyes and stood up to go wake Mena. She seemed to be doing a pretty good job of waking herself though. âWe should probably get moving soon...â She trailed off, her ears picking up the low rumbling noise behind the counter.Â
A full-grown wolf jumped out from behind the counter, snarling and moving towards them as if stalking prey. Gianna shook her head. It couldnât be... It wasnât Hunter, was it? But he was a wolf made for the Games, anything was possible.Â
Gianna quickly sprung into action. This was no time to gawk. âYou guys might want to hurry up and wake up. I think Hunter wants to avenge his parents.âÂ
She grabbed her pack and pulled her knives from it, sliding one across the ground to Mena so she had a weapon and be potentially useful. She moved around the wolf with care to create a triangle of tributes around it, divide itâs attention between them.Â
Surprisingly, it seemed to work for a moment, as the wolf paced in circles being unable to settle on which one to pick off. That changed quickly when it suddenly leaped towards Colton.Â

Location: Abandoned Blacksmith shop (Building D)
Allies: Colton and Kemena...Â
Inventory: 3 throwing knives, 1 backpack (contains food, water, first-aid supplies, matches, 1 wooden stake, and chalk and charcoal... for some reason...)Â
Injuries: None
Noteworthy events:
Bloodbath - snagged a survival pack, managed to avoid a confrontation with Vodka somehow. Missed out on the throwing knives but gained a sponsorship so it evens out.Â
A Cautious Encounter - Ran into Mena after getting throwing knives from Vance. Decided to keep her around rather than attack, since I didnât have time to prepare an effective offensive position.Â
Hiding in the Shadows - Found Colton. Decided he was more useful alive than dead, and may possibly defend me in the inevitable betrayal of Mena. He also has a baby wolf, which is unfair. Decided to camp out with him, since the Blacksmith shop was just so cozy.Â
Hiding in the Shadows || Alliance || Colton, Gianna & Mena
âIâm not making any promises on not tripping.â Colton winked. He never knew Gianna was good with traps. Alliances were a great way of finding out other peopleâs skills, and during he Finale, use it against them. He then turned his attention to Mena. âI donât think traps will be too helpful if the Game Makers send some kind of Monster after us. I mean, just look at the Arena. Iâve already heard some growls and screams from afar,â he added.Â
Truth be told, Colton wasnât too sure about sticking with an alliance of three for long. Sure, being in a huge group could provide safety for him, but it also makes moving around the Arena difficult.Â
Colton laid down with Hunter beside him, watching Gianna set up the traps and figuring out how it works. Even if they didnât work, his wolf pup would warn him if anything tried to disturb them in the middle of the night. Then he applied some disinfectant cream on his injury and patched it up with gauze tightly. With that, Colton closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
The store front is entirely bare save for the counter, the shelves and the door lying in wait.
Damn, nothing useful. Colton probably snagged anything useful by now anyway, and is just laughing internally at her futile attempts. She decides to create shallow dips in the ground outside the immediate openings by kicking dirt up with her shoe. The ground isnât soft but the shoes are tough so it works fine.Â
When Gianna had finished with her less-trap-more-slight-inconvience holes she enters the building and finds both Mena and Colton have settled down. She pulls a sandwich out of her pack and takes a few decent bites and drinks some water before grabbing one of her daggers and clutching it as she falls asleep, using her backpack as an uncomfortable pillow.Â
Hiding in the Shadows || Alliance || Colton, Gianna & Mena
âI agree with the idea of setting traps; even if they doesnât stop an attack itâll at least give us a warning. Who knows what the GMâs have up their sleeves so any warning could save us,â Mena knew that staying aware of their surroundings could be the difference between life and death.
She looked at the two tributes from 5 and sighed, âHonestly despite the fact the only one tributes gets to walk out of this arena, working together would be good. Have a team of three definitely gives us an advantage over the other tributes⌠Still despite any upper hand we may have collectively, we definitely need a good strategy. I agree that marching out like an army will get us into trouble,â Mena thought about it for a moment, âIt might be a good idea to stay here over night and then try and figure out if anyone else is here in the square. If nothing else it might give us a starting point,â Mena said looking outside through a crack between the boards covering the window.
Gianna nods absent-mindedly as Mena talks. She seems like she needs a break, so Gianna decides to gather things up to make some basic traps around doorways. Most of them would just be tripping hazards, provided she could find some string or something. The stakes could potentially be used for traps, but she didnât want to have to sacrifice a weapon for something this temporary and she doubted either of her âalliesâ would either...Â
So she searches around the room for something, anything that could be made into a trap. Or at least cause somebody to trip over in a loud, dramatic fashion.Â
Hiding in the Shadows || Alliance || Colton, Gianna & Mena
Mena laughed darkly, âWe are in an arena fighting for our lives⌠yeah it might be a good idea to keep our guards up.â She paused and listening to the silence following her statement. âSorry I suppose my sense of humor is a bit dark at times. It might be a good idea to settle in for the night, come up with a plan of attack and move forward with it in the morning. Yes?â
She began looking around the room again, attempting to get a good idea of layout and the rooms contents. Finally she settled against the wall just to the left of the door. It allowed her to see the entire room and both of the other tributes within, while still giving her access to an escape. Mena sighed and leaned her head back against the wall, still observing her surroundings.
Well damn. Colton made sure to pay a little more attention to the girl from Twelve. He wasnât so sure if her humor was the only thing that was dark. She could very well stab the two Tributes from Five while they slept. Thank goodness he had Hunter to warn him just in case she thought of doing such a thing. âThat sounds like a good idea,â he agreed to her suggestion. âBut just steer clear of both doors. Sleep somewhere you can escape easily, and keep your weapons nearby should you need them,â he added.
Colton sat on the floor leaned against the dusty counter. âWhat do you guys think we should do? Offense or defense? We can hunt for the other Tributes, or we can just try to survive as much as we can until the Arena. But if we donât start killing soon, the Game Makers might do something to change that.â
âIt might be an idea to set up some basic traps around the exits... So long as you two arenât stupid enough to get yourself stuck in them.â Gianna was pretty sure that Mena wasnât that clumsy, but Colton might be. They both seemed aware and on-edge, which was a good start.Â
âIf weâre planning to stick as a group for a while, defensive is probably not the best option. A single tribute or duo can get away with it, but three or more,â she motioned at Hunter. âTheyâre gonna expect us to go after people or at least turn on each other pretty quickly.â
She paused. âBut hunting down other tributes indiscriminately is dangerous. We could wait for one to come to us or we could prey upon one. I donât think we should march out like an army though...âÂ
Hiding in the Shadows || Alliance || Colton, Gianna & Mena
As soon as they walked back to the empty Blacksmith Shop, Colton and Hunter were faced with two other threats. At least Gianna and the girl from Twelve were human. Colton had no idea what was waiting for him at the end of that dark hallway. If they were here to fight, then it seems that Colton would have to be bathed in blood a bit more. With the knife in one hand and a wooden stake at the other, Colton narrowed his eyes at his potential opponents.Â
His District Partner was the first to talk, Hunter walking over to sniff her hands before barking ferociously cutely. âWell hey there, Gianna,â he replied, smirking at Hunterâs reaction to the intruders. âDown, boy. Come here,â he commanded, clapping his hands for the wolf pup to return to his owner, still snarling at the two girls. âYou, kill me? Hunter wouldnât like that, and I should warn you, heâs pretty dangerous.â Colton winked.
A Bishop and a Pawn, they could easily checkmate him but wisely decided not to. But just to make sure they didnât have any second thoughts, Colton let the knife in his hand soar through the air in between the two girls until it impaled a flying bat and pinned it against the door frame of the exit where Gianna and Mena stood. The tiny creature spread its wings wide and screeched until it finally died. âNasty animals, wouldnât want you to get bitten, now would we?â Colton walked over to them and retrieved his knife. âAlso, thereâs no candy in there, so donât bother checking,â he stated, referring to what awaits them through the door and to the dark hallway with his thumb.
âI killed his mom and dad. I think he considers me his new papa or something,â he grinned and petting the wolf pup on its head. Colton picked Hunter up and sat with him on the dusty counter. âDo you guys wanna see whatâs in that door for me?â
âNo, not yet anywayâ she responded.Â
Mena looked around at the old building they were in, trying to get a lay of the land⌠and search for any and all possible escape routes. Not that she had any intention of moving away from the door just yet. Itâs not that she didnât trust the other two it was that⌠Nope she just didnât trust them. They had a some familiarity with each other, being district partners. Mena on the other hand knew she was the odd one out.Â
She watched Gianna playing around the the wolf pup a bit before looking up at Colton. She observed him for a moment before deciding to reach out in some way. âHow has it been for you? So far, I mean.â Mena knew she should try to make some kind of peace with her fellow tributes.Â
So Colton had managed to kill a few wolves and adopt their baby... And had some knife throwing skills Gianna had been unaware of. Good to know. Gianna continued to play with Hunter until Colton put him on the counter. âWhich door?â She narrowed her eyes. She had been hoping to set up a base here, but if it wasnât safe then theyâd have to relocate. âAre we not alone here?âÂ

A Cautious Encounter || Alliance || Gianna & Mena
Mena continued to cautiously move forward until she was a little beyond arms reach away. She could see that Gianna had gotten some throwing knives, which made her wish she had more than just a stake. She took a deep breathe to calm her nerves before speaking. âYou as well. Look I have a proposition. Itâs the first day and we have no idea what the hell this horror movie of an arena is hiding. It might be beneficial to have to watch your back and vice versa.âÂ
Looking around at the forest surrounding them, Mena decided to just come out with it, âHow would you feel about allying together?â She was nervous, this could turn into an alliance but it could also turn out to be very bloodyâŚ
An alliance? Gianna was wary of the idea. While she would prefer not to traverse through the unfamiliar territory alone, Mena seemed like a dangerous choice. They were pretty equally matched in strength, skill and wit in fighting. She might be planning something or be trying to catch her off guard... Or maybe she was just in the same situation as Gianna...
"Alright..." Gianna said slowly. She felt like maybe this alliance would give her more grief than anything. She didn't know Mena enough to know if she was lying, but if her only weapon was a stake... Plus, Gianna was the one with the sponsor...
"Should we keep moving forward?"
A Cautious Encounter || Alliance || Gianna & Mena
Mena ran with everything she had away from the graveyard, determined to make it away. Running for what felt like hours, though in reality it was only a few minutes. Finally, when she allowed herself to slow to light jog, she began to really take in her environment. It was dark and cool, the trail she was following surrounded by trees. She knew this place was meant to inspire fear. It looked like the setting of the horror novels she had read.
When she felt like she was a safe distance from the cemetary, Mena knelt down and inspected the contents of her pack. The stake she came across was her only weapon so she pulled it out of the pack and tucked it securely into her boot so she could grab it if necessary. Mena began to move forward again, breaking into a light run. She needed to find somewhere to hole up, for a time anyway.Â
Suddenly, the eerie quiet of the forest was broken by a noise up ahead. Mena slowed her pace, moving forward cautiously. A few moments later she saw a flash of red hair. Gianna. Shit, I donât want to fight her⌠Mena paused thinking about her options. Maybe we could come to an agreement, or alliance of sorts. Even if itâs only temporary. Her decision made, she moved forward towards the girl, her hands raised in the air to show she was relatively unarmed.Â
âGianna,â Mena said quietly to get the attention of the girl.
Gianna continued running until a parachute fell down to her. She stopped to grab at it and look inside. Yes, good. She smiled, grateful to Vance for the sponsorship. She'd been going for throwing knives at the Cornucopia but hadn't been successful; his keen eye must have noticed. She glanced around and, not seeing anyone currently, decided to take a peek in the bag to see what she had there.
She heard a someone call her name behind her and whipped around, seeing Kemena coming up the path towards here. She panicked for a moment, but logic kicked in quickly. Mena wouldn't come after her unless she had a large advantage, and it seemed like she just had a pack like her. Mena didn't seem like she was going to attack, because why would she give a warning call? She also had her hands up, as if surrendering. Not attacking.
"Mena," Gianna said, watching her. "Glad to see you got out of the bloodbath..."
As Gianna races from the cemetery a parachute floats down in front of her. In it are 3 throwing knives and a note:
Glad youâre safe, Ms. Sutton. Show me again what you can do with these. - V. Carrella.
Vance has decided to sponsorâŚGianna Sutton! Let him know if you need anything!

Tell Me Sweet Little Lies | Arena Prep OS
I slept surprisingly well the night before the Games begun. I came crashing down from my sugar high last night and slept like a log, waking up surprisingly refreshed and really hungry.Â
I was the first at breakfast, as usual, ages before we needed to be ready. I was able to have a pleasant breakfast before anyone else showed up, so I didnât have to deal with the rest of my team. I was slightly curious about Coltonâs attempts at creating alliances last night, but not enough to stick around and deal with Aurelia and Axis.
I passed Axis on the way back to my room so I could brush my teeth and shower. He actually stopped, as if he wanted to say something to me. I flashed a cheeky grin at him. âTodayâs the day!â I said brightly before walking straight past. I probably sounded delusional. Maybe I was. But what was the point being negative about the situation?
Itâs not long before Iâm taken away by hovercrafts to get ready and enter the Arena. The trip is much shorter than I expect, and I can feel my nerves growing. Itâs the same sort of feeling I used to get before a big presentation, which is weird because the threat of losing your life should probably be more stressful...Â
I begin humming through some Fleetwood Mac songs to keep my mind occupied while I wait. My prep-team are with my, but it seems like Aurelia and Axis wanted to see Colton off rather than me. Rude. They bring out my Arena outfit and I look at it with a grin.Â
Jeans, boots, tank-top, leather jacket... Basically my everyday attire. Well, kind of. The leather jacket was less my style but I still looked Wicked in it. I wondered if it was some clue to the Arena, but I didnât let myself dwell too long. It was going to be a restricting outfit for running and fighting, probably get really sweaty real fast, but at least everyone would be in the same boat.Â
I gave a quick wave to my obnoxious prep duo and they waved back in a manner that could only be described as childish. I stepped into my launch tube and was cut off and slowly lifted into darkness to wait. I hummed Little Lies to myself to settle my nerves, waiting to be raised into the Arena.Â
Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill || Tyb & Gianna
âThey may arrest me to make a public image, the terrifying mentor who gets released from jail each year to mentor the tributes and let loose in the Capitol!â I smirk, âWhat will he do this year?â I take another sip and turn to watch the dancing, capitolites and sponsors and game makers all mingled as one. What I wouldnât do for a grenade right now. âI think that district partner of yours has taken quite the shine to me, has he mentioned anything?â
I laughed. âMaybe when you come back Victor, District 10 will adore you. I mean, youâve basically ended you fathers tyranny over the district, havenât you? You must be some weird anti-hero to them.âÂ
I gave him a funny look. âReally? Colton? No, he hasnât said anything. Mind you, we havenât really be sharing tactics ever since I heard about that first stunt he pulled with Gattin. He did say he was looking for people to ally with, but I donât think anybody with half a brain would think thatâs a good idea.âÂ
