lore i thought you would appreciate knowing: was listening to the radio broadcast of the cubs dbacks game today and zach zaidman was saying that when they were in san diego he was asking phil maton about getting to rest and getting over his knee tendinitis. and he said he asked him “what’s the thing you do now that you couldn’t do before?” and phil responded “throw strikes” 😭

i follow you both here and priv and i am so happy for you and your phil maton obsession but i am using this as a confessional to say when you started posting about him it scared me deeply because he’s my former high school teacher’s nephew. and that is how i first learned about the guy almost a decade ago was from my teacher mentioning his nephew played baseball for the cardinals. and so now every time i think about phil maton i think about my teacher, his uncle, and anyways all this to say your phil maton posting mildly instills fear in me because of that. keep it up though im genuinely so happy for you and your niche pitcher obsession. hope phil maton enjoys getting to play in his home state just 3 hours north of where he’s from even though if i had to guess he probably grew up a cardinals fan
