Early on in the show, Blackbeard is wearing fingerless gloves during all of his appearances. During his first moment of intimacy with Stede, his hands are naked, having given up his pirate identity. Then, when he transitions into his new phase as “the Kraken”, he’s suddenly wearing full-fingered leather gloves, closing himself off from human touch. (x)
