for the days when you can’t bare to be alone, but can’t stand company

to see the world

but wherever i go

the sun will follow

where the light doesnt reach

i think it’s okay to start a new one now

i warned you about the flame

if i were smarter,

i’d stop building homes

you make them feel

less alone.

you move like you expect

to be answered.

like your voice

belongs in the air.

i have learned

to take up space carefully.

when you look at me

do you listen to your favourite songs

the same way that i do?

do you study every lyric

and wonder why it resonates?

do you hear it

over and over

and sing it in your sleep

until you dream of waves and rocks?

without rearranging anything.

they sit where the light already is,

talk like time is generous,

leave their jacket behind by accident.

i tell myself this means nothing.

i am very good at meaning nothing

when it feels safer.

but the room remembers.

now it’s just

the space i leave open

on purpose.

not for anyone in particular.

but just in case.

i don’t ask for signs anymore.

i notice patterns instead.

how certain songs

make the room feel occupied,

how some silences

don’t ask to be filled.

if something stays,

it will know where to find me.
