As I was thinking wayyy to much about hamilton and danganronpa I just realized something. Ryota and Sakakura are 2 sides of the same coin, both have some kind of jealousy/grudge against makoto. Ryota resents naegi for bringing hope (born from good) and Juzo resents him for stopping despair (destroying the evil). If you really think it through, ryota envies naegi's creation and Juzo envies naegi's cataclysm, kinda like miraculous, having the power or creation and destruction, so to speak.
I hold on to this theory given the fact that juzo COULD'VE BEEN LIKE MAKOTO, Mitarai didn't have a choice, he was manipulated by junko and couldn't get out, no matter how much he wanted. On the other side, JUZO DID HAVE A WAY OUT, yeah perhaps at the cost of this whole relationship with munakata but if he would've just let his feelings aside, be objective for a minute and approached him like "hey junko is indeed the one to blame just like you thought" could've been a little push to stop her quicker, instead of keeping shut and denying her crimes while being aware of her mess. That's why makoto's bravery weighs so heavily on his conscience, since he could have done the same and way before, even maybe avoiding the whole killing game on class 78.
And you may think I'm too tough to be like "he should've told munakata" when his feelings were at a stake, and yeah I might be if it wasn't in a LITERAL life-or-death situation. Juzo didn't had the balls to give away his feelings for the sake of avoiding worldwide destruction, fearing his friendship with munakata would tear apart but it did either way and even worse, ending in his death.
Mr smartypants figuring this out 10 years later how clever.
