Two Days, One Night (2014)
@chibird 🌻 Never apologize to others for their misunderstanding of who you are.
Just a reminder that mental illness is not your fault❤
“Smile because you are alive. Because it happened. Because you’ve learned. Smile because you are now stronger. You have evolved. You are a higher version of yourself. Smile because every day is a new beginning and a chance for you to shed your old skin. Smile, just because.”

I've never admitted this to anyone but when my anxiety gets really bad I have this intense urge to choke myself in order to calm down. I don't know what it is, maybe I'm trying to hold down all the shaking pieces. Putting my head underwater helps too. I'm scared of this urge and how it might progress in the future. I don't think I'm suicidal but damn if I don't want to choke myself into oblivion... I think I need help
Hi there,Â
This sounds really scary. It is a little unusual, it is good however that you have recognised this. I would definitely be talking to someone about these urges. There are better ways to calm yourself down like deep breathing exercises which you can practice and is a healthier way to manage your anxiety. A psychologist will also be able to give you some better coping methods to help you calm your anxiety.Â
Jess
I was recently in a car crash where nobody got hurt but I keep reliving it and feel so anxious and have panic attacks from any sensory changes . I'm not sure what's happening :( it's so scary
Hi there,Â
This sounds really scary. Sometimes our brain can do weird things like this. I am not sure what is happening either. I would talk to your doctor or a counsellor, as they will be able to work through this with you or refer you to someone who can help.Â
Jess
Doesn't matter where I am, if I'm alone and there is a man around me, I panic. If possible, I run away, if not, I pray that nothing happens. Yesterday I was on a train and a man was standing close to me bc there were so many people on it and I honestly didn't know what to do since I couldn't flee. They don't even do anything, they just stand there and I freak out. It's so exhausting and I wish it would stop..
Hi, this can be extremely hard. I think it is important to recognise why you are feeling this way? If you can identify why this may help you be able to rationalise your brain out of it. Sometimes it is good to sit through the anxiety. Next, tell your anxious thoughts that last time nothing happened and you were fine what are the chances that something will happen. This can be tough to work through and you will be able to work through it easier with someone like a psychologist or a therapist. They have some great tools and methods to help your brain think in a more logical sense. Jess. xx
At my school I am in a mandatory debate class and the professor said everyone will need to debate in front of the class at some point, so now I spend the entire class (and all the time) anxious and scared that he is going to call on me.
This is really hard. Especially when you know you have to do something and there isn’t any way to get out of it. This is one of those situations that you just have to manage by breathing and controlling your anxiety the best way you know how. Whether this is breathing exercises or having something that you fiddle with to calm your anxiety. Jess
145)Â I go to a therapist and she always asks me how stressed I feel, I always force a smile and say "I don't at all really" when in reality I dread leaving the house every morning.
To be honest, if she is any good at her job she will probably have some inkling that you aren’t telling the whole truth. It is better, to be honest with her, you probably already know this. She won’t be able to give you her best help when you aren’t telling her the whole truth. A way of her letting her know if you don’t feel like saying this out loud is writing it down on a piece of paper and giving it to her. Then she can start the conversation for you and it may be easier to discuss it this way.Â

144) People don’t laugh at the things you say right at the time, but they write it down in their mental agenda and keep it for later. When they’re with they friends, they suddenly remember that thing you said 3 years ago and start laughing. It has happened too many times.
I suspect that I have GAD but I'll probably never go to check it up? I've lived almost my entire life worrying about things and being frightened of loud noises and worrying over grades and small things to the point of having stomach aches.
Super important, that you do. A lot of people are able to see a significant improvement in their anxiety after seeking help. What is the worst thing that can happen from going and seeking help?It can be a scary and confronting thing to do but its something that I am glad that I did. I live now a mostly anxiety free live. Jess
143) When I’m in a group (classroom, group of friends, online group etc) and someone says “what’s your opinion/do you have questions” addressing to everyone, if I have something to say, I always think “no, not you. You’re not part of this group, you’re just tolerated and don’t have the right to speak.”
Ah, this can be tough. Especially when your mind is pushing and holding you back. Next time this happens to notice it, what is the worse that can happen if you say something? Probably not much. Say what you are thinking. Sometimes the best way to get rid of the negative voice is to say what you are thinking and battle them by doing the thing they don’t want you to do..
Hey, same person as the previous Anon(late car/class fail). For a couple of years I've had this theory that I've had clinical ADHD, and this year has just compounded on that theory along with my first deadass suicidal thoughts. Usually I talk myself out of it, but school and everything has been stressing me out. The thing is I know I can't get help because a) the counselors can't do shit, and b) my parents don't believe that it's worth the stigma/out of the ordinary for anyone to feel this way.
Hi sorry, it has taken me so long to get back to you. Have been going through issues of my own. I really do recommend speaking and trying with many different psychologists. Counsellors and psychologists are a little different in Australia as a psychologist you have to have studied for longer. I would recommend to keep on trying to see different people until you find someone that works well and you feel comfortable with. I am sorry to hear that your family feel this way. Is there anyone else close to you that you can talk to about this? It is important to have someone who can comfort you and talk to you in these hard times. Make sure you look after yourself and call your emergency services if you really need them. Mental health is just as important as having a heart attack. Jess. xx
My anxiety and my personality
I feel I don’t fit the stereotype for anxiety. I’m diagnosed, but the problem isn’t that. I feel like my personality is the complete opposite of people who do have anxiety. My personality is fun and outgoing, but whenever I get a terrible grade on a test, I simply break down. I cry, and am just a mess. I can have fun at parties and social events, but if I get C- on a grade, I will cry in that class. Doesn’t matter if my crush would be in that class, I will break out in tears and it’s completely embarrassing.
Whenever I see posts based on anxiety, I always feel like I relate, but I also don’t relate. The people who make the posts have a more introverted personality, while I’m a total extrovert. It’s awful and I feel like both my personality and my anxiety are mocking me, because if I can’t fit in with other people with anxiety, where can I fit in?
---------------------
Hi there, I think it is important to note that anxiety doesn’t discriminate on different personalities. I myself would consider myself more of an extrovert than an introvert and I have had crippling anxiety many of times. I know how you feel. It is important to live your own story with anxiety. I don’t believe anyone has experienced anxiety in exactly the same way, as people always experience anxiety the same way. You would be surprised how many other people with anxiety are extroverts but are probably pretty good at hiding it. Jess. xx

142)Â I have anxiety and even though i have told some family members, one if them still has trouble understanding that she needs to stop saying things like "You need to push these feelings aside" like hey i would love to do if i could but i cant.
This can be really hard, especially when someone doesn’t understand how you are feeling. Keep fighting and pushing, try to ignore those around you who don’t understand how you are feeling.Â
I tried ordering food by myself but I couldn't and I made a complete fool of myself. I'm sure everyone heard me and they think I'm such an idiot. I told my sister and she said that if I'm ever on a date and I do that my date will think I'm weird. She's right. I'm not sure what to do anymore. I can't even order food like a normal human being and I'm such a complete waste of space. My parents are probably disappointed in me and everyone is disappointed in me and I'm sorry
Hi Hun, This can be totally normal when suffering from mental illness, especially anxiety. I would talk to your doctor or a psychologist how you are feeling and things you have been thinking. They will be able to give you some guidance on how you are feeling and also be able to help you with some ways to cope and help you be able to take control of your thoughts and feelings.Â
