If someone calls themself a non-contact pedophile it means they're comfortable being associated with pedophilia and with pedophiles both non-contact and actively hurting people.

If it's just a mental illness if it's something they truly aren't ever going to act on they would be putting themselves as far the fuck away from pedophiles as they possibly goddamn could. They'd find solace in existing ND communities that understand that being a good non-harmful person is often difficult or they'd create new terms that AREN'T giving any leeway for predators (i.e shit like MAP doesn't fucking count that just gives pedophiles a cutesie name for themselves)

Like I've got OCD and trauma and as such it takes monumental effort to stop that from hurting people but not once in my fucking life have I thought "hmm the people who make my mental illness into a sexual persuit are people I'm fine associating with me."
