Gem wrote this one so no Lou infodump this time, I did have fun composing around the little tune Gem sang for it though...
I wish I could infodump about the history of the phrase. I don't know anything about it. The closest I know is that some people think it was Orhan Avcı who wrote it in his poem first but even that doesn't make sense because it is clear to me that he is talking about the saying.
For those who are wondering the poem:
Gözlerim, (My eyes,)
Gözlerim nerde? (Where are my eyes?)
Şeytan aldı, götürdü; (A demon took it, took off with it)
Satamadan getirdi. (Couldn't sell it so back he brought it)
Gözlerim, (My eyes,)
Gözlerim nerde? (Where's my eyes?)
So yeah, I don't think it's from the poem. We do say it when things go missing. I have never believed it as a child because it was silly but now that I'm an intellectual, I believe it because it is silly and you know what? It works.

For those who are wondering: yes, this is an actual phrase. Yes, I've been thinking of exactly this happening the first moment I have heard it as a kid. Yes, it does work. IDC if you are gonna tell me it's just "superstition", I have seen the data and it does not lie.

Time for Lou to nerd out! - Tanja's performance in this was amazing. Obviously when I want to cast an immortal Serbian fae, Tanja is the person I immediately think of because of her range, but the grief she managed to get across in these lines. Wow. (Gem is great too obvs, love you sib) - The music is inspired by the Serbian folk song "Врбице, врбо зелена" (Willow, Green Willow). It involves waiting up for a shepherd boy on the Eve of St George so is undoubtedly about sex in some way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aFKjbPHdWo - And to answer the question before it happens again, yes, the vila is the kind you recognise from that transphobic woman's books. Unlike her, I am capable of reading more sources than Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fucking Fable and talking to actual Serbians, so our Vila, instead of being a misogynist caricature actually resembles the myth - a powerful fae warrior woman, often capricious and quick to anger, something like a valkyrie, guardian of or associated with a location who often forms attachments to local heroes - these don't have to be romantic. Sometimes they may become blood-bound comrades or "sworn sisters" (посе́стрима), such as the vila Ravijojla in The Ballad of Marko Kraljević who is chased down on a [checks notes] psychic horse and defeated in battle by the titular character after shooting his friend the voivod Miloš for [checks notes] singing too loud. Anyway I fucking love folklore.

The High Priestess

In the original card, you can see The High Priestess placed between two pillars that represent strength and establishment. The High Priestess looks sure of themself with their religious items on their hand, looking directly to you.
I have chosen Paige Duplass for High Priestess not because she is The Widow of Wounds but because of how she doesn't think she is someone divine. She represents both sides of the card perfectly. She is a divine woman who has chosen a path to dismantle the religious hierarchy by giving power to those who have lost theirs. Her doubts, not knowing what is right or wrong anymore, being lost in being the religious figure but also a human; she becomes the very symbol of what she has been trying to find. These things and more makes her undoubtedly The High Priestess for me.

There are insufficient words to describe how EPICALLY EXCITED I am about this. I wrote an entire, one-off audiodrama for the @lawofnamesmedia anthology This Address Does Not Exist, and we managed to find, frankly, perfect voice actors for it.
It's also the first audiodrama I've ever written (we're not counting me doing audio versions of my own fanfics), and frankly I'm still somewhat shocked and awed at how amazingly well this has all gone.
Huge, HUGE thanks to @lee-alder for taking a risk on me and supporting me through creating this with such skill and compassion (also deft audio editing); Ben Rowe and Tania Elizabeth Gabbidon for their amazing acting; @primefactorx01 for doing his customary audio wizardry on such a tricksy piece; Helen Gould for making sure we weren't going astray with some timely sensitivity reading; and @onceandfuturequeer, @montalais, and @gemaydin for linguistic assistance.

Tumblr: did you mean this self insert fanfic of Jujutsu kaisen?
I think it's insane that even in the most leftist and "progressive" spaces the idea of equating morality with looks is alive and present and no one fucking bats an eye at it. like racists and mysoginysts are always portrayed as fat and hairy and generally unkept, as a contrast to the morally good and attractive leftists of course; people will have no problem being genuinely fucking awful about someone's appearance if they're deemed to be a "bad person". and the worst part is you point all of this out and people act like you're reading too much into things like no dude you gotta start using your brain more
