*** FIRST RESPONDER !

   here’s  a  small  starter  call.

            it’s not okay, not even close and most days avery can handle the chaos of the wasteland. it’s all she seemed to know now, as the past felt more like a distant dream than anything tangible. it was real though, dean was evident that it was real. the medic isn’t the vocal type, never has been and even now she feels her skin crawl as she cries out. there’s no sign of responders, no signs of the brotherhood, not even signs of the raiders. the vault still remained shut, and everything... everything was ash, ruin, and radiation. she doesn’t understand how—— the county had never been hit! it showed how futile fighting was, it’s a cruel reminder that the destructive nature of man transcended even death. she feels a heavy hand on her shoulder and instinctively she turns into his touch, her arms wrapping around him. ❛  everything  we  tried  to  do  after  the  bombs  fell  is  just... it’s  gone.  ❜  it was all gone.

                     avery would give up the ability to speak above all else, there are other ways to communicate and other ways to survive. her sight is something she needs as is her hearing in this changing world. they go hand in hand with her profession, but the inability to console the wounded? it wouldn’t weigh as heavily on her.

                            there are days when avery harper longs for nothing more than to be among the dead, not to die but to rest. the days following the nuclear holocaust have worn her down, they show no signs of stopping and she’s doomed to this vicious cycle. help the displaced, all of the lost, and the wounded —— scout for items, scout for survivors and try not to let your soul die in the process. it’s a slow rot, like the way radiation is an invisible fire that burns your insides first and then spreads outward. this job causes the same pain to your soul. still, she persists because she doesn’t know how to stop anymore. chaos is her new normal. there’s breaks in the monotony, like right now as she hands this person, stranger - one of many, a water bottle and keeps one for herself.  ❛  do  you  need  anything?  ❜    blankets? food? a place to fade into oblivion?  //  @spoilednight: sc.
