Steve Rogers x daughter! reader
Summary: Being Captain America's daughter has its pros and cons. Pros: You get discounts at the Baskin Robbins on the fourth of July. Cons: Youâre pretty sure your dad hates you.
It was hard being Steve Rogers daughter. Mainly because you were a hundred percent sure he hated you. And not in the way that a teen thinks her dad hates her because he wonât let her pierce her belly button or anything. No, you KNOW Steve Rogers hates you because of what you represent. You represent the fact that he truly is stuck in the future. That he canât have a family with his â one true loveâ. Letâs start from the beginning.
You were only six when you met your father. It wasnât by choice, from what you remember your mother would have never left you if she really didnât need to. But she did. She left you in the lobby of the Avengers Tower with only a note and a journal she had kept since before you were born. That was the beginning of your tense relationship with the one and only Steve Rogers.Â
At first the team didnât know what to do. A superhero headquarters was no place for a child to be. It was dangerous. And plus there was no way you could be Steves kid. You looked nothing like him. Instead of pale skin, blonde hair, and a blue eyes you had brown skin, curly dark hair, and y/e/c. At first he thought it was a joke. Some prank Tony and Clint thought would be funny. But when no one was laughing, and a week passed and you hadnât left, it hit him. He was a father. Â
Then he started thinking. Who was your mother? The letter didnât really explain anything, it just stated that your name was Y/n, you were his kid, and the woman who wrote this note was probably dead. Now contrary to popular belief, Steve Rogers was no virgin. While he held on to some of those old school values, he was still a man, he had needs. But he made sure to be so careful and if he was being honest, he never spoke to any of those women after that one night. âWhoever it was, they must have been truly desperate to leave their child with a man they only met once.â He thought as he looked at you play with Clint, who out of all of them, had the most experience with kids.Â
As he stared at you, he couldnât help but wonder if this was a trick. If you were planted here to be used against him and the team. And unconsciously, he labeled you as a threat.

You noticed your dad treated you differently when you were about ten. By then you had been in school for a few years and realized that the other students dads didnât make sure there was someone with them at all times. Or that the other girls dads let them talk about their mother. But your edad seemed only to get angry whenever you brought up your mother. You know he has the journal your mother gave you before she left, he took it a few days after you moved in and never gave it back. It almost was like he didnât trust you. He was always on his guard whenever you were around.Â
You only knew Captain America, you never met Steve Rogers. In fact, the older you got, them more you started to realize that he treated you like an enemy. Every gift you gave him for fatherâs day was inspected as if it were a bomb. Every move you made was analyzed, and you were never left alone unless you were in the Tower. As you entered your teen years, you werenât allowed to go over to friends houses nor were you allowed to have a cell phone. He stopped allowing you to watch the team during training around the time you were twelve. He also insisted that no one teach you any form of self defense with the excuse that he wanted you to have a normal life and not worry about superhero things. Little did he know that Natasha and Clint taught you what they could whenever he wasnât around. Tony even let you play on his phone whenever you visited him in the lab. Those three really were the only ones who treated you like family.Â
You spent your time alone, because if you left youâd be followed and it was really ideal just to stay put. Because of this, you spent a lot of time exploring the world of arts and literature. You read almost every book in the Tower, trying to find some form of escape. After reading, you tired drawing but you werenât really good at it(another thing you didnât have in common with your dad.). You found that you were really good at singing and playing instruments. You spent days composing your own music, never sharing it with anyone though. Because that was something your father couldnât control. Something you could keep a secret from all the prying eyes in your life.

After years of your fathers constant watch over you, everything came to a head one faithful day.Â
The team was dealing with a killer robot who wanted to take over the world or something. Your dad hadnât given you much details. of course. So you were alone in the tower. Tony had given you an extra cell phone on the down low, so you were listening to some music while writing a song of your own when you were interrupted by a menacing voice
âSo, this is the young girl the Captains hidingâ Â
Immediately you look up to see a figure that looked like one of Tonyâs suits. Only the eyes were glowing red.Â
âwho..who are you?â you whispered in fear, knowing that if it came down to it you would have to fight to stay alive.Â
âMe? Oh, Iâm just like youâ the humanoid crooned. â My daddy doesnât like me either.â You look at âhimâ in confusion. âWhat are you talking about?â You ask, slowly reaching for your phone hoping he would monologue or something. Luckily for you, he did exactly that. he went on and on about how he was created to purge the world because âsocietyâ or something like that. You had your phone in the pocket of your hoodie when he turned to you and said,Â
â And you, you can be the Eve of the new world.âÂ
âEw, dude Iâm fourteenâ Â
And with that you leap out off of your bed and run to the door, hoping to catch him off guard.Â
âOh, you stupid girlâ he says as he grabs the back of your shirt and throws you to the ground,
âCanât you see? You have nothing to lose?â He kicks you in the side, knocking the wind out of you. â You have no friends.â He lifts you by the front of your shirt and slaps you. âYour mother is long goneâ He lets you fall as you try crawling to the door. âand daddy? Daddy doesnât love you. He keeps you around because he has to.â The mechanical man pins you down with his foot, threating to stomp on your chest, âHe thinks youâre a threat. Havenât you wondered why he always keeps tabs on you.â He leans closer to your face. âJoin me. Join me and give him a reason to fear you.âÂ
You turn your head and see a metal water bottle underneath your bed. â You talk way too much R2D2.â and with that you reach for the bottle and smash it against his face with all your might. He stumbles back and you kick him in the chest. As he falls, you get up and run towards Tonyâs lab, pulling out your phone and calling the first person that pops up.Â
âHello?â a voice says.
âTony?! Tony heâs in the tower!â You cry desperately.Â
âTony? This is Laura, Laura Barton, Who is this?â The woman, Laura says.
âThis is Y/n Rogers.â Upon hearing your name, you heard Laura call out for someone. Then Clintâs voice comes through the phone.Â
âIâm here, Clint he came in through the window or something.â You say quickly.
âWhere are you? Are you safe?â He questions. You nod forgetting he canât see you.Â
âIm fine.â You finally say. â Im in Tonyâs labâ
âOkay, sit tight kid, Iâm on my way.â With that he hangs up. And youâre left alone with your thoughts.

About an hour passed when you heard the quinjet land. You waited for a few minutes when you heard Clint calling out for you.Â
âIâm in here!â You shout, getting up from your hiding spot.Â
âHey Annie, are you okay?â Clint says in a playful tone. You smile as you run into his arms.Â
âIâm fine. birdbrainâ,You say. But then you wince when he squeezes you a bit too tight. âOkay. I guess iâm kinda bruise. But you should see the other guyâ
âAlright slugger, lets get you out of here.â He says, slinging an arm around your shoulders and leads you out of the lab. As you boars the quinjet, you realize something.
â Clint, whoâs Laura?â You question. He just chuckles and says â Uhh, itâs a long story.â And as he starts to tell you, you find yourself dozing off. The adrenaline leaving your body.
You wake up to the feeling of being carried. As youâre carried into what you assume is a house, and hear a group of people talking. As Clint enters, you hear a little girl scream âDADDYâ and then the room gets quiet.Â
âDaddy, who is that?â The child asks as youâre laid on a soft surface.Â
âClint, why did you bring Y/n here?â You hear your fathers voice.
âIs she okay?â Natasha.
â Sheâs fine. Turns out our little robot friend found its way home and attacked.â
âAttacked?!â you hear Tony say as you feel gentle hands touch your face. It startles you enough to open your eyes. Upon opening them you see the team surrounding you in a semicircle. The hands that touch your face belonged to the one and only Laura Barton, who smiles at you when you make eye contact.Â
âHey there, how do you feel?â She says in a calm voice. Youâre speechless/ Even though youâve always had Nat and sometimes Pepper, they always gave off more of an aunt/big sister vibe, This was the first time in years youâve felt a mothers touch. Seeing the concern in her face you realize you havenât answered.
âKinda like I got pimp slapped by an autobot.â You blurt out. The chuckle she lets out warms your heart.Â
âWell,â She says, âI canât say that Iâve ever had that feeling before. But hereâs some pain pills and water, see if that helps.â And with that she pats your hand and leaves, taking the little girl with her. You look around at the faces of the team. Most of them have different variations of concern on their face, except one person. Your father.
âHow did you call Clint?â He asks sternly. âWhat, no are you okay?â, You think to yourself.
âI used the phone Tony gave me.â You answered honestly. â I called the first number I saw and Mrs. Barton answered.âÂ
âYou gave her a phone?â He turned to Tony. âStark, I thought I made it clear I didnât want her having a phone.âÂ
âIf she didnât have that phone she wouldâve died.â Tony retorts. â The towers power was cut off, FRIDAY couldnât call anyone on time.â
âYou directly went behind my back.â Steve said. âWhat were you thinking?!âÂ
â I was thinking, âHey i have an extra phone, maybe Y/n would like it.â Tony said sarcastically. â Sheâs a kid Steve, no harm done.âÂ
âThats not the point and you know itâ Steve says â What ifââ Heâs cut off by NatashaÂ
â Wait, Y/n how did you get away from the metal head in the first place?â she asks.
âOh, I hit him in the face with a water bottle.â You said nonchalantly. Confusion spread among the group.
â A- a water bottle?â Bruce asked, speaking up for the first time. â Y/n, maybe you have a concussionâ
âNo, I hit him with some metal water bottle I had under my bed, then I kicked him in the chest like how Nat taught meâ you said, looking at Natasha for approval. She smiles at you, a proud look on her face. It makes you feel good when she does, but then
âWhat do you mean Natasha taught you?â
