For reference, this is VERY similar to the OG plot set up for the Blade solo film which marvel scrapped because they’re too incompetent to realize people want to see brutal supernatural close quarters combat as the protagonist fights for their life against nigh insurmountable odds while protecting someone they care about.

Easy money, Sokolov capitalized on that and brought some phenomenal cinematography to this one. There’s so many cool camera techniques to emphasize the weight of the action and to up the intensity during chase scenes. It does feel like 90 minutes of nonstop action and zero filler. Not the most complex story and the dialogue was a little cheesy at times, but it’s effective and good enough for this sort of film. We’re here for the crazy fights anyway.

Zazie Beetz is always amazing in supporting roles, but this was the first time I’ve seen her in a leading role and she killed it(pun intended) also great to see Tom Felton again.

The way she is surrounded by darkness under Ottos ruling here, the only bit of light that reaches her is from the moon, the light from the fire doesn't reach her.

Here, under Rhaenyra's ruling, after she has walked away from the men in her life trying to control her and has spoken up for herself and her needs, Alicent is being bathed in sunlight. She is being liberated. The motto of her house is 'light the way', she can finally do that now she has escaped the darkness.
