I've asked this question before and been surprised by the results, now I have access to more weirdos it's your problem:
It is the middle of a Sunday afternoon. You have nothing on, and aren't expecting visitors, deliveries or post.
Unexpectedly, there is a knock at the door.
Which of these would surprise you more to find on the doorstep?
Fairy
Walrus
Not naming options to skew votes but...
I think there's something fundamentally baffling with the way most of you think.
Happy birthday to this iconic poll
Light Yagami: *furiously writing Bugs Bunny's name in the Death Note*
Bugs Bunny: *standing behind him and peering over his shoulder* "Bugs" is spelled with a Z.
Light Yagami: *without turning around* Ah yes, thank you *erasing furiously and continues writing*
Bugs Bunny: *stroking chin* Or was it an S?
Light Yagami: *erasing again and writing again*
Bugs Bunny: No, it was definitely a Z.
Light Yagami: *erasing again, even more agitated*
Bugs Bunny: Wait! It was a TH!
Light Yagami: *turning around, red faced* Can you decide on a spelling already?! *awkward pause, realizing who he's talking to*
Light Yagami: *screams, notebook and pen shooting up*
Bugs Bunny: *yoinks them both out of the air* Now let's see... Light Yagami... *begins scribbling*
Light Yagami: *on his knees, hands clasped* Wait, no, please, I beg of you! Spare me!
Bugs Bunny: *turning the Death Note around to reveal he doodled an unflattering caricature of Light*
I feel the newcomer controversy right now is like... right anger but for wrong reason if that makes sense?
Outside of AKI in Season Pass 1, this Season Pass is the first time we got proper Newcomers. If you swapped the order of characters around so Yasmine or Arjun were in Season 3 and we had a proper veteran in Season 4, it might feel better but the situation is the same. The actual issue is if you look at the starting Roster you see a very nasty SF2 World Warrior Bias. Of the initial Roster of 18, 10 of them were the non-boss characters of SF2, only really lacking Fei Long if you count Lily as a successor to T. Hawk. Every player character in SF2, avaliable from the start.
In comparison, we had 6 Newcomers (if we don't count Lily) and Juri and Luke (Who was effectively a newcomer as his SF5 appearance was to build hype for SF6). So basically it was SF2's Non-Secret Characters, Newcomers, and Juri. No characters from 3, Alpha, 5, or Final Fight were in the game. No boss characters where in the game.
If we look at what Season 1's season pass was, we got 2 characters from 5, 1 Newcomer, and a Boss character. Then in season 2 we got 1 character from 3, 2 guest characters, and a Boss character. In Season 3 we got a SF4 character, a Boss Character, and a SF 3 character, and whatever we call Ingrid.
There fundementally was a lack of slots at the start, one that appealed to a very specific type of fan-and that left everyone else clamoring for DLC slots.

What do you feel Morganth and Mallory's childhood in Dun Dara was like?
FANTASTIC QUESTION!!!!!!!!
I imagine Malory to be quite older than Morganthe, by about 10 years give or take. At the time of his betrayal, Morganthe would have been around 13ish, making Malory in his early/mid 20's.
Artorious had gotten word that random items from farmers out in the Wyrd/Dun Dara area were being stolen- he went to investigate, and found that a young Malory had been stealing things to take care of him & his infant sister, who'd been hiding out in a cave for an amount of time. That's when Artorious offered Malory to become his Page, in exchange him and his sister would receive proper housing and care.
Though in true knight training fashion, Malory and Morganthe did not live in Castle Avalon for quite sometime, but of course with the druids in Dun Dara. Even in his early Page training, Malory was always the primary caregiver for little Morganthe, more so because he was very hesitant to let others take care of her. He would walk to and from Dun Dara to Castle Avalon each day for training, infant morganthe in a sling of some kind.
I think partly how Morganthe and Ambrose were introduced was because Morganthe as a toddler would just run away to whatever looked interesting to her when Malory would take her to his training duties... she became too much for him to look after, and when one days he stumbled into his orrery/office in the Castle, Ambrose offered to look after her while Malory trained. That's how she became his apprentice, a few years later.
Malory would definitely read books to Morganthe when she was a bit older, help her put her shoes on, etc etc. I like the visual of him now being able to give her piggy back rides as he nears Knighthood age during their daily treks back and form from Dun Dara and Castle Avalon. Morganthe would talk his ear off about whatever she learned with merleor read about in the Library.
Merle was a bit more 'fun' than Malory though, I think Morganthe learned a lot of mischievousness from Merle. There's this sort of whimsy-exchange i think Morganthe and Merle had with each other throughout their early mentor/mentee relationship. He loved her curiosity and wonder at the world, and she loved learning from him, and hearing about his many, many tales throughout the Spiral. She wanted to see more of the Spiral for sure.
I think I've talked about this before, but Gamma and Morganthe have such an intense 'sibling' feud-ish realtionship. It makes me laugh very much.
Because Malory grew up out in Dun Dara, he was much more accustomed to the druids and foundlings, and had a much better rapor with them compared to the other Knights of the Silver Rose. Often, his assignments as a Knight would involve traversing the forests, keeping peace between non-druids on the outskirts of the kingdom, and also helping the creatures of the wild if they were in need of it. This is also how he even got the foundlings/druids to rebel against he Kingdom when he betrayed Artorious, imo. He had a good standing with them.
There's more I could go into but thats sort of the basic stuff that comes to mind for me! I love Malory and Morganthe so much I think about them all the time waaaaaa
i don't actually think star wars is space fantasy. 99.9% of people in the GFFA are just in a regular science fiction story. but also have a low likelihood of meeting a real actual wizard.
the odds of a wizard just showing up are low but never zero
like it's a really big setting (whole galaxy) and even pre-empire the Jedi were a single religious order based on Coruscant. and yeah they could have other temples but they clearly don't have an established presence on every planet. plus latent force sensitivity is typically a pretty subtle ability (Anakin was off the shits powerful & his presented primarily as inhumanly good reflexes).
fully plausible to me that most people who don't live on Coruscant (or another planet w a Jedi temple on it) could very easily go through their whole lives without ever meeting a Jedi. less likely that they'd never run into anyone force sensitive but again 'force sensitive' could just mean 'weirdly intuitive' in practice
this is why it's not that implausible to me that as of the original trilogy a lot of people don't believe the Force is a real thing - even when the Jedi were relatively abundant i can believe that a lot of people were like 'oh there's a religious order who believe they have magical mind powers? that's neat I guess'. add in some imperial propaganda about how the Jedi and yeah sure. i can buy that within 20 years everyone's just pivoted away from believing in the force
anyway potential very sharp split in the rebellion between people who never believed in the force/bought into the propaganda/are just too young to remember the jedi order and people who are like no you guys the Jedi could kill people with their brains, I know bcos I was there
the rebellion is pretty clearly pro-jedi (use 'may the force be with you' as a sign-off in mission briefings) but i can easily imagine some rebels being like oh i get it, the force is symbolic right? it's a metaphor for the interconnected nature of life. and then Mon Mothma & co are there like for the last time the force is real and if you don't watch out Darth Vader is going to use it to kill you
Sign in the Rebellion mess hall:
It Has Been 0 Days Since the Metaphor For the Interconnected Nature of Life Was Used to Murder Someone.

My personal white whale in the "it would be good if it was good" category has got to be the Atelier Iris trilogy and follow-up Mana Khemia duology. In order, we've got a game that changed its core gameplay loop in the last leg of development and broke half of its subsystems in the process, an obvious rush job, a game that can't even decide what kind of game it wants to be, a game whose protagonist is so boring it's actually kind of inexplicable given how fascinating his whole deal is, and a game that actively punishes you for picking the female protagonist by giving her a party that doesn't meaningfully engage with half of its mechanics and a post-game that's functionally unplayable because it was never playtested with her in the lead. If you add up the good bits of all five games you'll have a collection of genuinely fantastic ideas on your hands, but every individual entry is irritatingly half-baked.
(To add insult to injury, the PC remasters just skip right past this entire segment of the franchise, so we've got updated versions of Atelier games from both before and after this era, but nothing within it, and none of the stuff that's interesting about them has ever been revisited in later entries in the series. Fun!)
How does Iris 2 split itself between two games. If it's a part of a long running franchise, and the second game in the particular subseries shouldn't the vision already exist?
