It cannot be stressed enough that this post is not simply stating that every Soldier serving the US military is simply a grunt who will do what they are told. There are pretty obvious implications underpinning the original post.
First and foremost, no one is saying or dismissing that there are many service members who have come or will come to see the error of their subservience to the state. I have spoken with many of you who are, for lack of a better phrase, reformed in this sense. We know that you exist.
However, as many people much more articulate than myself have pointed out, the type of scenario described in the original post is not simply going to come as an order to shoot Americans and take their guns. Any servicemen who is decrying this scenario, and stating that they and their compatriots would never do such a thing, is totally missing the point at best, and is intentionally disingenuous at worst.
Such a hypothetical scenario would come as a result of creeping totalitarianism, and would be the end game where the means were incremental policies designed to lull the population into a false sense of security. The orders thatâs given would be considered lawful by even the most ardent constitutionalist three percenter. This to be true, because not a single one of you has shot up a government building over the existence of the USA PATRIOT Act.
As @anarchyinblack so succinctly phrases it, these âsleeper cellsâ of closet libertarians simply do not exist. If they did, they would already be doing something about the heinously corrupt institutions they willingly serve each and every day (as a means to an end, to provide for oneâs family so it goes).
Fact of the matter is, there will never be in order akin to âall right boys take their guns and kill any who resistâ. It will be called something else. It will LOOK LIKE something else (like fighting VERY BAD⢠âdomestic terroristsâ). We saw confiscation occur during hurricane Katrina. We saw militantly-enforced curfews after the Boston marathon bombing. We see the police readily and willingly continue the War on Drugs and we see individuals lining up to continue fighting the War on Terror right here in the âhomeland.â
There will lot be âa dayâ this all happens. There wonât be any âwhen the day comesâ epiphany for you to have. Youâve either had it by now, or you will continue existing as an enforcer for an unjust State. These changes have never come overnight and they will not be so obviously abrupt in our near future.
