The Multiverse is Full of Queers

As a gay man with family all along the queer spectrum, one of the greatest obstacles I’ve encountered as a Magic player has been finding stores that are safe, diverse, and respectful. Legitimately finding a place to play Magic as a queer person is difficult and often disappointing, as homophobia and sexism are sadly a large part of gamer culture.

I have encountered far too many queer gamers, in person and online, who feel uncomfortable attending FNMs or unable to find regular playgroups because the discomfort caused by other gamers. That is why I want to try something, and I need some help.

If you are a queer gamer or an ally, and your LGS is a safe place for queer players to play without having to be clandestine about their identity, please contact me and tell me:

-The name of your LGS -Where it is located (addresses are cool if you have them) -Share a little bit about the store’s player base -What formats are offered

Let’s use Tumblr to help queer gamers find a place to play! I know from experience that often the only thing keeping me from checking a store out is the uncertainty of whether or not it will be a welcoming space, and God knows I’ve missed the opportunity to play in the past because I felt like there weren’t any places nearby that I could play without suffering through a bunch of homophobic language and attitudes.

Karn, by the way, is actually not gendered. People refer to him as “he” but Karn is a golem and doesn’t have boy or girl parts.

Gathering Queers is back and reporting for duty!

We are accepting submissions of headcanon, links to posts you think belong here, art, and the miscellanea that has to do with the many fabulous characters of MtG and they ways we know or imagine them to be not cis and/or straight.
