Problems and gaps are what we are aiming to tackle, so we can find solutions. Opportunities may not only be found through the positives and strengths of the situation, but also through the problems. The video illustrates how many problems turned into universal opportunities.

  Children are the most creative human beings. They simply don’t feel tied back to seriousness; they simply play. Their imaginations go wild while they are playing. They create kingdoms and empires just in their minds. They can see details in things that we can’t see sometimes. Play helps one reach a critical concept that may be really effective in solving a problem. Play can help us think of additions that may be greatly effective to existing ideas or products. The video illustrates how a child may create things that we can’t think of just by using his imagination.

I think playing is a habit that strongly initiates creative thoughts. Being serious sometimes may not be a good choice. Leaders from Egyptian pharaohs to Chinese emperors and European royalty have consulted with fools, or court jesters, when faced with tough problems. The persona of the playful allowed the truth to be told, without the usual complications and camouflages that might come with speaking formally. The playful side of each person brings out the creative sense that is innately present within one’s soul. Allowing your mind to be at play is perhaps the most effective way to stimulate creative thinking, yet many people separate between play and work. Presently, the people who can come up with great ideas and solutions are the most economically rewarded, while worker bees are often employed for the benefit of the creative thinkers. While playing, one might just find a crazy idea that is so insanely practical that no one has ever thought of before.

Getting over fixedness would allow us to see the simple components of an object or problem. Knowing that the simpler the objects, the more experimental opportunities that can be applied; we should consequently suspend judgment and criticism on our thoughts and ideas until we try implementing them. If one faces fixedness in the middle of a process of innovation or solving a problem, then one should try to get curious and divergently ask random questions. Converging these questions and grouping them together would allow one to come up with a challenging question. Answering that question would allow one to improve the situation and approach a solution. To get over fixedness one should widen his scope of thinking by seeing the good in the bad and the solutions in the problems as well as believing that each problem has a solution. The video illustrates how one can use an object that is specifically designed for a certain purpose in an extremely new way and different purpose easily. Those people are creative and definitely don't suffer from fixedness.

Fixedness is a characteristic that inhibits creativity. It is a mental state that some people may not be able to control. It is the inability to manipulate thoughts and the rigidity of viewing things and situations in new ways. Fixedness causes the lack of seeing the possibilities and usefulness of objects beyond their use; it creates a closed mind frame. If people don’t try to think of new things and just stare at problems and materials as they are, they won’t achieve any success in their tasks and lives. Creativity has many definitions, which all include the basic concept of innovative thinking.
