Bnha things that had me on a chokehold.
i don't exactly know what they put inside the tropes of "Class 1A being treated as villains in society" But I am absolutely loving it because of the grip, the strength, it had me definitely on a chokehold.
Let's start with a lil something mmm? Since season 2, when the other classes came to "curiously" check 1A for being attacked by villains at the USJ, since then, they had negative views about Class 1A. Soon, it wasn't just the entirety of UA, it was also society in general for being spoiled little beings for thinking that getting attacked would make you grow a head for being famous. So of course, society treats Class 1A as "arrogant, trouble attractors, attention-seeking" as if getting attacked by villains was their fault (Well in the case of those who haven't read the manga would say so, but those who have, it's still vaguely implied it is but when really, it ain't anyone's fault at all except AFO) They couldn't even be treated properly in broad daylight, saying they bring a bad name to heroes, saying they're the reason their children won't want to become villains.
Regardless villains or heroes, aren't they risking their lives to save society's ass anyways? And they're just being treated as "dangerous, should be removed, and entitled" by that same society? It then led to Class 1A only being able to rely on each other, and Aizawa. Because no other staff in UA wants to get caught in the mess, in saving their reputations and such. Aizawa is their only support because Nezu wouldn't give a rats ass, or the HPSC would not even provide care for the publicly well known institution. Not even All Might himself.
When Bakugou was kidnapped, things were getting out of hand, leading to civilians thinking, "our children being enrolled to UA only brings downfall, it's the fault of Class 1A that they were being attacked (even tho the news clearly stated their target was All Might), All Might retiring was from the fault of Katsuki Bakugou," as if society would lose their trust in heroes, and pinning all the blame to 1A and their infamous explosion boy. Society was shameless to mention it to Bakugou as well, calling him "All Might ender, shouldn't ever be a hero, it's his fault for ending All Might." He had no support, and after his fight with Izuku Midoriya, he only had the arms of Class 1A to support him, because God forbid he would tell his biological family.
When Eri was rescued and in the death of Nighteye, the work studied students were only comforted by Class 1A, for the hard times, even briefly by Bakugou and Todoroki, when people had received the news of the League killing Snatch and retrieving the drugs and making Overhaul armless, society shifts critiques to Class 1A. "They're always getting into trouble," "they couldn't even prevent such a simple hit & run as this?" "Because they were involved, Nighteye died," "I heard they encountered the girl before the fight, if they had just saved her then, it wouldn't turn out like this" as if they could control the outcome of the fight. As if they could predict the League coming into play. In the end, society will say it's their fault for when they are involved.
Trouble was attracted to Class 1A. Monoma was right about that. They couldn't even be free from backlash from all the other student courses because "it's their fault we can't enjoy our school year and shine through" Even after all the performance they went through to make people feel safe and enjoy themselves, they continue to receive heavy critiques, for being children to provide things that children shouldn't be responsible for giving. Trying to provide a space for everyone to enjoy along. They were sneered by Class 1B for the small difference. It was okay for Class 1A, all they had wanted was for everyone in the stadium to feel at ease, they weren't selfish. Heroes aren't supposed to be.
Why was society treating them like villains?
During the 1st War in Jaku and Gunga, when Gigantomachia broke out in the entirety of Japan, when Dabi revealed himself, and when Shigaraki/AFO were engaged in the fight before fleeing, all of society's trust in heroes had long vanished. Backing all those nearby into the corner. But the most received backlash was Class 1A anyways. Although being omitted from the fight, they were received with critiques of "why didn't you join the fight, you were supposed to be heroes, you couldn't even protect us, you're selfish, you couldn't do anything right, you're the real villains, we should have never trusted you" when they were none the wiser for not knowing the full details of the fight, for when Izuku Midoriya had to leave UA because AFO and Shigaraki had a huge target on his back, when Shouto Todoroki was seen as both the villain, Dabi's brother and terrible hero, Endeavour. In the end, they were blamed by society for the downfall of Japan, when they never did anything at all, except trying to protect society.
And when the 2nd war was over, society tried turning a blind eye of actions when all villains had been defeated. Never once had society apologized to Class 1A. When all fought, blood, sweat, tears, lost limbs, lost heart, and losses of people important to them. Class 1A tried to save not only society, but the villains as well. In the end, during the rebuilding, society never once apologized to Class 1A, nor thanked them.
When they protect society, they only had each other to protect. Aizawa does his best to protect them. Who else would protect Class 1A?
They're future heroes. They should be able to protect themselves. They shouldn't need any protection.
But they're just kids, aren't they?
