Amazing time last night at the @innovatecubldr New Venture Challenge Kick Off Night! Over 400 guests including investors, businesses & entrepreneurs. It was an honor to do a “lightening talk” about the development of My brand @guwaladanele & my experience being a NVC Challenge winner.
As a 1st generation Liberian from THE Cleveland, Ohio, I talked about how intimidated I was pitching my business model in the midst of scientists, engineers and critical thinkers. As a one woman show, I pitched my idea to make ready-to-wear garments in Liberia that will sell via e-commerce. Though intimidated I took home a prize for the Research & Development track of the New Venture Challenge! While garments were being made in Liberia, my designers used the “zero-waste” method utilizing all units of the fabric to avoid waste. This prize helped me bring my sketches to LIFE! Sales will help send girls to specific schools in Liberia to attain STEM & Computer literacy skills.
