unfocused and unattentive, emmett stood down by the lake, knowing what was in its depths and wanting to crawl inside, anyway. it'd be nicer down there, quiet, sun waving through ripples above his head. that's a thought his therapist wouldn't like, though, so instead he stood on the shore, only taken away from his thoughts when he saw the same car he'd seen several times coming back this way. he had a new neighbor, and though he wasn't a very curious man, he did begin to walk that way, from the house he inherited to lenore's, waving a bit as she got out of her car. he was drunk, and she was dealing with it. always dealing with his problems as if they didn't effect her. persephone was too nice, but parker didn't need to say it; she was well aware of that fact. and even though the man never consciously took advantage of it, here he was, in all his drunken glory, showing up at her house. at least laura was away. he wouldn't want her to see him like this. 'can i comin'?' words were slurred but still clear. he held a bottle in one hand, mostly empty. don't ask if he drove over there. 'needed t'see you . . .' @spiritdreamt.

this wasn't his place. colin wasn't a mallrat, like the emo kids in his college courses who crawled through stores looking to steal stuff. he'd stopped at hot topic to pick up a few more rings and then he sheepishly wandered into the store that was far from his aesthetic, arms crossed over himself as if trying to disappear. 'hi, do you . . .' hand with painted nails gestured toward cherry before they land on his chin, nervously tapping against the piercing on his bottom lip. 'you work here, don't you? i think i've seen you before. but regardless - i'm looking for a gift for my mother's birthday. i'm clearly out of my depth and could use some help,' @cherryplucked.

justice needed to be served, and agent nash would be the one to serve it. to the man who had been taunting him since he was a kid, not to some criminal the fbi decided was a threat. morally grey defined most of parker's being, which was why, whenever he happened to cross paths with mack ( much more often than seemed coincidental, though parker wouldn't get conspiratorial about it ), he paid him no mind. or, mostly no mind. 'do you ever lay fuckin' low?' amusement could almost be heard under the words as parker took a drink from his flask, wiping excess whiskey from his mustache onto his sleeve as he looked at the other man. 'it's like you're beggin' to get taken in,' @aratsaka.

'we don't believe in any of this stuff . . . didn't - believe in any of this stuff,' past tense, because what him and his friends had seen not even a month ago had changed drew's perspective on a lot of things. after researching, learning of what's out there, he knew that ( in retrospect ) they should have handled all of it with much more care. but how could they have known? 'until now. which is why i'm here, i guess, i'm looking for, um . . . any leads on this thing,' drew handed over an old image of a talisman, one that would help ward off demons and evil spirits. if he was going to start hunting these things, he needed to protect himself.
