Discovered by someone using a metal detector, a unique Medieval ring is believed to be a "love token." Â Researchers believe the ring belonged to a prominent citizen and was imported from the Middle East or Northern Africa.

Israeli archaeologists have revealed an elaborately decorated Byzantine church dedicated to an anonymous martyr that was recently uncovered near Jerusalem.
A 1,500 year-old Byzantine church (dedicated to an unknown martyr) was recently discovered near Jerusalem. Â
"The elaborate design of the church, including a lattice marble chancel, calcite flowstone baptismal and floor mosaic depicting an eagle, a symbol of the Byzantine Empire, shows the site's notable funding and significance."

Our Ancient Phos Zoe Cross is inspired by an ancient Byzantine cross believed to be from Cyprus (that original piece is now a part of the collection at the Freer Gallery of Art).
Cyprus, due to its central location in the Mediterranean, has acted as a hub for voyagers and trade. Â Perhaps this led to the Byzantine influences we see on this Greek Cross.

Underwater archaeologists also found four other shipwrecks dating from several different historical periods.
There were many new finds discovered by archaeologists at the Ancient Greek shipwreck off the island of Antikythera.
The site is known for the discovery of the “Antikythera machine," a mechanism that predicted the positions of the stars.

Two of the eggs broke open during excavation, but one remains intact
Eggs hardly seem an exciting find, but archaeologists recently discovered eggs dating back to the Roman occupation of Great Britain.
"[...] the eggs were among a trove of rare items recovered from a waterlogged pit. The gaping hole preserved organic items that would have otherwise deteriorated in the soil, including a rare wooden basket, leather shoes, and wooden vessels and tools."
